Book-It Repertory Theatre will open its 28th season with a stage adaptation of Dr. Maya Angelou's masterpiece I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Founding Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt originally adapted and directed this piece for its 2003 world premiere at Book-It. Platt is thrilled to collaborate with Malika Oyetimein who will direct and join Platt as co-adapter on a new script for 2017.

MNM Productions' Company is the latest venture by theatrical producers and arts consultants Marcie Gorman-Althof and Michael Lifshitz. Company is their sixth major musical following A Chorus Line, Side By Side By Sondheim, Hair, The World Goes 'Round and, most recently, Monty Python's Spamalot. The Outre Theatre Company presents the first production of its 2017/18 season, George Orwell's 1984, in its new home at the recently opened Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The play 1984 is based on George Orwell's dystopian novel published in 1949. In 2005 the novel was chosen by Time magazine as one of the 100 best English-language novels. Many of its terms and concepts, such as Big Brother, doublethink, thoughtcrime, cold war, and Newspeak have permanently entered into common use since its first publication.

There have been numerous standing ovations at the performance venues designed by Currie Sowards Aguila Architects(www.csa-architects.com). For the past five decades, the award-winning Delray Beach-based architectural firm has played an instrumental role in designing some of South Florida's key cultural venues, and recently their designs for the expansion of the Maltz Jupiter Theatre received approval. CSA was part of the initial transformation of the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre to the Maltz Jupiter Theatre in 2005. Additionally, the firm has designed the Mizner Park Amphitheatre in Boca Raton and Old School Square's Crest Theatre, Arts Garage and the new Arts Warehouse, all located in Delray Beach.
