Light the Candles!   Get the Ice Out!  Blow the Bugle!  The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Interim Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, presents the special Summer 2017 Musicals in Mufti presentation of the hit Broadway revue Jerry's Girls, with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and concept by Larry Alford, Wayne Cilento, and Jerry Herman, featuring the greatest songs for women from such immortal musicals as Mame, Hello Dolly!, Milk and Honey, Mack and Mabel, A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine and La Cage Aux Folles.  The limited engagement of Jerry's Girls begins TOMORROW for 12-performances only, August 5 - 13, 2017 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).  Opening Night is Sunday evening, August 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.

BROADWAY BY THE TEAR, a dynamic evening of torch songs, produced, written, and hosted by NY's critically acclaimed impresario, Scott Siegel at Feinstein's/54 Below on July 29th, featured Garth Kravits (The Drowsy Chaperone), Meredith Inglesby (Beauty and the Beast), Farah Alvin, (Nine, Saturday Night Fever, It Shoulda Been You), Mia Gerachis, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Philippa Lynas (Australian singing star), Pepe Nufrio (54 Sings Broadway's Greatest Hits!), Jenny Lee Stern (Forbidden Broadway, Rocky: The Musical, Spamilton), Morissa Trunzo (Occasion for Sin), Remy Zaken and Rashad Naylor, with Ryan Shirar on the keys.

The best of Broadway will perform for FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2017' - a lunchtime series on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 17th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 10.

This week's event will feature performances by the casts of Waitress (Betsy Wolfe, Caitlin Houlahan, Charity Angel Dawson, Drew Gehling, Dayna Jarae Dantzler, Kayla Davion, Tyrone Davis Jr, Matt DeAngelis, Law Terrell Dunford, Molly Hager), CATS (Tyler Hanes, Christine Cornish Smith, Jessica Hendy, Francesca Granell, Jonalyn Saxer, Maria Briggs, Andrew Wilson, Zachary Daniel Jones), and SPAMILTON (Tristan J. I always find it exciting to see a musical I know nothing about and FINDING NEVERLAND fits that bill. I remember watching Jennifer Hudson sing 'Neverland' on the 2014 Tony Awards and recall watching the cast perform on the NBC 'Thanksgiving Day Parade' in November, 2014. The cast included Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Michelle Kelly and Carolee Carmello. However, the Tony Awards snubbed the musical with no nominations. After seeing the show this week, I do not understand why. I found the musical absolutely wonderful and worthy of a Tony nomination for Best Musical. FUN HOME won the Tony for Best Musical in 2015 beating out SOMETHING ROTTEN!, THE VISIT, and AN AMERICAN IN PARIS. There were no nominations for FINDING NEVERLAND.

The new theater on 47th Street, which is just a block from its inspiration and main punchline, will host the show for an open engagement. The Divine Miss M misses nothing and sent the company a lovely gift to welcome them to the neighborhood.
