Alonzo King LINES Ballet, the San Francisco-based, internationally celebrated contemporary ballet company, performs at City Parks Foundation's SummerStage 2018, New York City's largest free outdoor performing arts festival. This year's SummerStage is presented by Capital One and features over 200 artists from around the globe. Alonzo King LINES Ballet presents two powerful works on July 25: Biophony and SAND. 

Make Music Day, the annual global celebration of music occurring each June 21, today announced its full schedule of over 4,500 free outdoor concerts, music lessons, jam sessions and other exciting music-making events - with more to come - in more than 80 U.S. cities. The all-day musical celebration on the summer solstice, which brings people of all styles, ages and skill levels together to make and enjoy music, has become a worldwide phenomenon observed by hundreds of millions of people in 800 cities in 120 countries. The Broad today announced the lineup for the third edition of Summer Happenings at The Broad, a music and performance series sponsored by Leading Partner East West Bank. Full casting is today announced for Nuffield Southampton Theatres workshop production of Son of Rambow - The Musical, running at The Other Palace from 24 May - 2 June. Director of NST, Samuel Hodges, directs Gemma Goggin (Miss Smith), Scarlet Billham (Tina), Tom Mccall (Barry), Jon Tarcy (Didier), Richard Dempsey (Brother Joshua), Cat Simmons (Sarah) and Felix Warren as Will and Aaron Gelkoff as Lee. Son of Rambow - The Musical is an adaptation of the hit cult film featuring an original 80s pop soundtrack by two of the UK's most successful pop writers Miranda Cooper and Nick Coler with the book by Richard Marsh. This marks Cooper and Coler's debut in writing for the stage.

On May 20th 2018 at NYU's Skirball Center in Greenwich Village, dance lovers were treated to a non-stop evening of award presentations and riveting performances during the second annual Chita Rivera Awards. Known as the Fred and Estelle Astaire Awards from their inception in 1982 until 2017, the awards honor excellence in dance and choreography both onstage and on film.

The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.

Parsons Dance - under the Artistic Direction of David Parsons - is excited to announce that its annual gala will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, as part of the company's recently announced two-week return engagement to New York City's Joyce Theater. Contemporary dance company Alonzo King LINES Ballet will explore how science and art interact for the season finale to Northrop's 2017//18 Dance Season on Tue, May 1, at 7:30 pm. The exciting San Francisco-based company examines the kinetics of the human voice as an instrument in its piece The Propelled Heart, while LINES dancers become otherworldly creatures alongside a score of natural soundscapes in Biophony.

Directed by Debi Marcucci and starring The Phantom of the Opera's Julia Udine, the production begins with previews on April 10th, opens on April 12th, and continues through June 10th in the Walnut's Independence Studio on 3.

According to Variety, key member of Fleetwood Mac Lindsey Buckingham has left the group. She has been with the band from 1975 to 1987, took a hiatus for the following ten years, and then rejoined in 1997. Read about her departure from the band from Variety here!

Vietgone by Qui Nguyen is the Vietnamese-American playwright's own creation story-a telling of his parents' 1975 refugee camp romance in a "geek theater" spectacle that's at turns affecting, sage, raucous, and fantastical. A screenwriter for Marvel Studios and founder of Obie Award-winning company Vampire Cowboys, Nguyen's work champions representation and diversity on stage while dripping with pop culture nods, contemporary music, and action-adventure narrative. The production pairs this Studio-commissioned playwright with director and Studio Cabinet member Natsu Onoda Power. Drawing on Vietgone's comic book aesthetics, Studio's Stage 4 is transformed into a garage concert with a live band and original funk-rock-punk-n-roll score, giving audiences a front row seat to this anything-but-typical story of boy meets girl.

THE GREEN ROOM 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - will present the debut of Israeli music and comedy star, Nansi Brandes on Thursday, April 19 at 8:00 PM. In a New York evening celebrating the 70th anniversary of Israel's independence, the musician and comedian returns to personal stand-up comedy. He shares humorous stories of his second marriage to a woman thirty years younger, his children and the long time he spent in the hospital, struggling against a small, violent, deadly bacterium that threatened to pass him on to the next world.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC)made its spring announcement of 18 new shows added to the 2018-2019 season, continuing to showcase chart topping musicians, compelling dance companies, groundbreaking storytellers and authors and a wide range of holiday performances, all appealing to diverse audiences.
