Sondheim: A Musical Tribute

During his prolific and storied career, Sondheim collaborated with many other artists, from book writers to directors, from actors to musicians. Seeing Sondheim’s regular collaborators, close friends, one-time associates, mentors, and rare connections make appearances in his collection was both moving and illuminating.

CPA Theatricals and Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre announced casting for their co-production of the play with music SENTINELS, which imagines a secret society of women that supports and promotes each other’s talents.

The Virginia Theatre Festival has announced the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of playwright Lloyd Suh’s The Heart Sellers. The Heart Sellers will run from July 11-July 20 and will be directed by Desdemona Chiang, who returns to VTF, where she directed Harvey in 2018.

Directed and choreographed by Rick Kerby, this production of Sondheim's groundbreaking musical is given an A+ treatment.

There are a few technical glitches that presented themselves to a keen eye, but virtually something for everyone to like.  Overall, BSC’s production of ALITTLE NIGHT MUSIC represents another triumph for both Barrington Stage and the woman who has steered the company’s successful course for the past 27 years.

A special tribute to Stephen Sondheim will take place during this year's Grammy Awards, Variety reports. Sung by Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Ben Platt and Rachel Zegler, the performance will be part of the show's traditional In Memoriam segment, which honors those we have lost in the past year.
