The Human Race completes its 28th season of producing professional theatre for the Miami Valley with actress/playwright Regina Taylor's hit Crowns. Based on Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry's book by same name, the play begins as troubled Brooklyn teenager Yolanda is sent to live with her church-going grandmother down South after the death of her brother. There she finds healing in the personal stories of the ladies of the congregation and the hats that adorn their heads. Through time and space, their intimate histories create a soulful, joyous triumph of song, dance, culture and glorious 'hattitude' in this powerhouse gospel musical like no other. The Human Race Theatre Company's production runs tonight, June 11 - 28, 2015 at The Loft Theatre. It is co-directed by Dayton Contemporary Dance Company Artistic Director Debbie Blunden-Diggs, who also serves as choreographer, and Human Race Theatre Founding Resident Artist Scott Stoney. Resident Artist Scot Woolley is the musical director.

Four (4) of their AWESOME Hot Sauces are nominated for this year's WORLD Hot Sauce Awards. The 34 year old Original Recipe is competing for world's best "Medium" hot sauce. Sgt. Pepper is in the running for best "Louisiana-style" sauce. HummZinger with garbanzo beans is going after world's best "Hot" hot sauce, and Venom aims to take home the honors for best "Pepper Blend." Befitting of such a World Contest, this one takes place in Louisiana, the birthplace of the most time-tested style of hot sauce known today.

The Lusty Month of May; like the song says: 'It's time to do a wicked thing or two!' It's May, the time when spring brings that hot-blooded, four letter word: lust. Musicals have had a steady history of lusty musical numbers. There are songs about rolling in the hay, and others extolling the virtues of different (ahem) flavors of man-candy. Some songs are paens to hot, steamy nights, and some are about what you do on those kind of nights.

Director Alan Paul establishes himself as a Musical Director Extraordinaire

Following the success of the previous two festivals, the 3rd Annual New York Hot Jazz Festival -- produced by the impresario Michael 'Misha' Katsobashvili, performer Bria Skonberg, and composer/producer Patrick Soluri (of Prohibition Productions and The Salon) -- returns to The Players this year and promises some of the biggest stars of the Hot Jazz and swing scenes in a summit of uptown and downtown talent spanning three generations.
