Gleich ihre Debutsingle „Hanging By A Moment' avancierte zum weltweiten Charthit, der sich uber ein Jahr in den Billboard Top 100 hielt. Bis 2012 folgte eine atemberaubende Tour de Force durch sechs Alben, zahllose Singles und mehr als 15 Millionen verkaufte Tontrager, bevor sich die Band aus Los Angeles vorubergehend verabschiedete. Die selbstauferlegte Pause ist nun zu Ende, am 26. Mai erscheint ihr siebtes Album „Out Of The Wasteland', der erste Vorbote, die Single „Hurricane', wurde bereits veroffentlicht. An adaptation by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens of Ödon von Horvath's classic 1932 play Kasimir and Karoline, the production features a cast of 13 actors and actor-musicians.

Lakeside Pride Music Ensembles presents Women in Music, a festive celebration featuring female composers, conductors and performers, at Preston Bradley Center (941 W. Lawrence, Chicago) on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 3 p.m. This concert, hosted by Orange Is the New Black star Lea DeLaria, will feature a special guest appearance by Chicago's own Artemis Singers, the first lesbian feminist chorus in the U.S. The Lakeside Pride Symphonic Band, under the direction of Kyle Rhoades, will perform the masterworks planned for this special event.

Skip E. Lowe, the comic, raconteur and perennial TV host whose weekly public access cable program has been airing in Los Angeles, New York and other major markets for more than 35 years--the longest in television history--and is generally credited as the inspiration for the Martin Short character “Jiminy Glick,” died in his home at Kingsley Manor Apartments in Hollywood on Monday, Sept. 22. He was 85 and had been suffering from emphysema and other respiratory ailments, though he never smoked, but blamed years of working as a comic in smoke-infested nightclubs. Lowe had conducted more than 6,000 interviews, often two a week, with guests that included Orson Welles and Bette Davis.

The New York Philharmonic will salute departing Principal Trumpet Philip Smith - who will step down from his position at the end of the 2013-14 season following 36 seasons of service - in A Celebration of Phil Smith, a concert featuring the New York Philharmonic Brass and Percussion Ensemble, conducted by Mr. Smith and Bramwell Tovey, July 5, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. The program will also include works that showcase brass: an arrangement of Rimsky-Korsakov's Procession of the Nobles; a Horn Quartet by Gershwin; Tomasi's Liturgical Fanfares; an arrangement of The Great Gate of Kiev from Musorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition; and Pollack's That's a Plenty, which the New York Philharmonic Principal Brass Quintet, of which Mr. Smith was a founding member, has frequently performed as an encore on the Orchestra's tours. Philharmonic musicians will introduce the works and speak about Mr. Smith.
