Today, the 2014 CBGB Music & Film Festival announces Billy Idol as the keynote speaker during the five-day celebration taking place Wednesday, October 8 th through Sunday, October 12 th. In addition to an array of concerts and film screenings, music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to attend exclusive industry talks, comedy shows, art exhibitions and special performances by the most influential talent from the past three decades.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8 TH
DANIEL LANOIS & THE MODERN SCHOOL OF FILM PRESENT: FLESH AND MACHINETHE FILMS:
Holding a conversation on the nature of sound and image, Daniel Lanois, Grammy Award Winning musician/producer, will show clips and discuss past works. He will premiere selections from Lanois and The Modern School of Films collaboration "Flesh and Machine The Films."

The CBGB Festival Headquarters, Center 548, will host a keynote interview and short acoustic concert by the legendary Billy Idol.Billy will release his autobiography,Dancing With Myself,onOctober 7 th and hisfirst new album in nearly a decade, entitledKings & Queens Of The Underground, on October 21 st. This intimate and very special keynote event will featuremusician, record producer, and former VH1 VJTimothy Sommer interviewing Billy Idol live on stage, followed by a short acousticperformanceby Billy and his longtime guitarist and collaborator Steve Stevens. Walking Papers featuring Duff McKagan, The Skins, and other special guests will also be performing during this event.

SCHOOL OF ROCK:
The School of Rock will pay homage to the legendary CBGB bands. Eight schools from New Jersey and New York will come together to perform renditions of the most iconic punk-rock music from artists including The Ramones, Joan Jett, Blondie and Talking Heads. Founded in 1998, School of Rock is a performance-based music education franchise with programs for toddlers, kids, teens and adults.
