New York's beloved Dance Theatre of Harlem, under the artistic direction of Virginia Johnson, returns to NY City Center for its annual homecoming season tonight, April 4, the 50th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with the annual Vision Gala, honoring dance legend Carmen de Lavallade and civil rights icon Xernona Clayton.

Tonight Paper Mill Playhouse kicks off the world premiere production of the new musical The Sting, based on the 1973 film, and with book by Bob Martin, music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann & Greg Kotis with Harry Connick, Jr. In addition, the score will contain music by Scott Joplin including 'The Entertainer.' John Rando is set to direct with choreography by Warren Carlyle and music direction by Fred Lassen.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers To Release Three Essential Albums In New Vinyl LP Editions

On March 30, George Thorogood & The Destroyers' Bad To The Bone and Born To Be Bad albums, long out of print on vinyl, and the band's Greatest Hits: 30 Years Of Rockcollection, never before available on vinyl, will be released in special vinyl LP editions via Capitol/UMe. All three albums are available now for preorder on black vinyl LPs and in limited edition, 180-gram color vinyl editions, which are exclusively available for preorder from The Sound of Vinyl and George Thorogood & The Destroyers' online store. Tickets are on-sale now for George Thorogood & The Destroyers' North American tour dates in April and May.

New Line Theatre Announces Wild Lineup for Upcoming Season

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. All New Line's mainstage shows will be in the company's home, the Marcelle Theater, in the Grand Center Arts District.

Falls directs his adaptation, based on a translation by Eleanor Marx-Aveling, with a cast featuring Philip Earl Johnson as Thomas Stockmann, doctor and chief medical officer of the baths; Scott Jaeck as Peter Stockmann, Thomas' older brother and town mayor; Lanise Antoine Shelley as Katherine, Thomas' wife; Rebecca Hurd as Thomas' daughter, Petra. Rounding out the cast are Jesse Bhamrah (Billing), David Darlow (Morten Kiil), Allen Gilmore (Aslaksen), Aubrey Deeker Hernandez (Hovstad), Larry Neumann, Jr. (The Drunk) and Carley Cornelius, Arya Daire, Guy Massey, Roderick Peeples and Dustin Whitehead as townspeople.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the continuation of the Rolling World Premiere Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood at Vermont Stage. The play will receive a total of four distinct NNPN RWP productions, rolling through Member Theaters Florida Repertory Theatre (Fort Myers; September 22-October 29, 2017), Florida Studio Theatre (Sarasota; August 2-20, 2017), Vermont Stage (Burlington; January 24-February 11), and Williamston Theatre (MI; January 27-Feburary 18, 2018). (NEC) will re-mount its 2017 revival of 'A Soldier's Play' by Charles Fuller, directed by Charles Weldon, from February 14 to March 4, 2018 at Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond Street. The piece is historically NEC's most famous and successful play. It was produced last fall at Theatre 80 St. Marks as the culminating event of NEC's landmark 50th season, playing to full houses and glowing notices. The cast of that revival will return intact for the Gene Frankel Theatre run.
