Muldoon's Picnic - the critically acclaimed omnium-gatherum of music, storytelling, poetry, and more - has become a staple of New York's cultural diet. Led by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon, this words-and-music jamboree features an evolving lineup of world-class special guests from across the spectrum of arts and letters. Returning for its eighth season at Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, New York) on September 10, October 8, and November 12, the series will feature playwright Sarah Ruhl, jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, poet Kimiko Hahn, singer-songwriter Chris Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne),Vogue Creative Digital Director Sally Singer and more.

BroadwayWorld is sad to report that legendary playwright Neil Simon has died at 91. 

Award-winning producer, Craig Zadan, best known for his work on musicals of stage and screen (helping bring both back to the mainstream), has passed away at age 69.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) is pleased to announce its educational offerings for the 2018-2019 season. From acting, dance, and improv, to playwriting, behind the scenes tours, and theatre appreciation, there's something for students of all ages, experience levels, and artistic interests at FST. Established over 30 years ago, Florida Studio Theatre School reaches almost 1,000 students annually from ages 4 to 104.

Their short film FALLING SOUTH plays Wednesday evening August 8that 6:00 pm with award winning documentary film INGRID and another short film starring Marlyn Mason, AN AFFAIR REMAINS. RIFF represents the New England premiere for FALLING SOUTH and the world premiere for AN AFFAIR REMAINS.

Legendary songwriter, recording artist and performer Paul Simon will release his 14 th studio album - In The Blue Light - on September 7.  Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab announced today the inaugural production of the Hunter Theater Project, the New York premiere of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA at the Frederick Loewe Theater at Hunter College (E. 68th Street and Lexington Avenue), directed by Richard Nelson. Translated byRichard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Volokhonsky. This production is the first time renowned Russian literature translators Pevear and Volokhonsky will have a work premiere in New York City, following the show's world premiere at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Previews for UNCLE VANYA begin Friday, September 7. The production runs through Sunday, October 14, with an official press opening on Sunday, September 16. Tickets are on sale now.

Today, the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) continues its 22-year legacy of providing a platform for diverse storytelling and emerging filmmakers, by announcing the 2018 official selections in all screening categories. The festival returns to Miami Beach, FL from June 13-17. 

On Monday, June 18, 2018, the theater world and New York communities will come together for Broadway Sings for Pride's 8th annual charity concert entitled "Revolution"!  Hair co-creator James Rado (Grammy-Award Winner) and Hair original choreographer Julie Arenal (Broadway/West End) will join over 35 tribe members to celebrate Pride with a special Hair reunion musical performance during the event.

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. All New Line's mainstage shows will be in the company's home, the Marcelle Theater, in the Grand Center Arts District.
