The San Diego Symphony has announced the lineup for its popular Bayside Summer Nights, packing the summer full of amazing screenings of the most classic films, some of the most beloved names in rock and a world premiere. At the heart of every Bayside Summer Nights season is the incredible San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director; Evans Haile, Executive Director), dedicated to the development of new musicals and rediscovery of musical gems from the past, continues the 25th Anniversary of its acclaimed Musicals in Mufti series celebrating the work of the legendary librettist and lyricist Alan Jay Lerner, whose hundredth birthday was August 31, 2018. The series honors one of the creators behind such classics as Brigadoon, Camelot, Love Life, and My Fair Lady.

Winner of five Tony Awards and Seven Olivier Awards, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will run at Village Theatre beginning this March. The production, directed by Village Theatre artistic director Jerry Dixon, will be his first directing credit since becoming the organization's artistic leader in June of 2018. Village Theatre's production features an all-new score by Curtis Moore (Broadway: Lucky Guy with Tom Hanks), as well as choreography by Sonia Dawkins (Prism Dance Theatre).

Westport Community Theatre is currently producing Athol Fugard's powerful play, The Road to Mecca. Performances take place from February 8th through 24th todays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays, with a Thursday performance on February 14th at 8:00 p.m. Ruth Anne Baumgartner directs the play, which is produced by Joan Lasprogato.

Music Director Thierry Fischer and President & CEO Paul Meecham today announced the Utah Symphony's 2019-20 season, with highlights including multimedia concert experiences featuring the twelve movements of Messiaen's Des canyons aux toiles (From the canyons to the stars), the release of Berlioz and Prokofiev recordings on the Hyperion Records and Reference Recordings respectively, and a celebration of Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020. Additional highlights include the return of American composer Andrew Norman to present three of his orchestral works and work with young Utah musicians in his second year as Composer-in-Association; a gala concert with violinist Joshua Bell celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Utah Symphony's first-ever performance, which took place on May 8, 1940; and a tribute to Hispanic Heritage that includes music by Latin-American composers conducted by guest artist Carlos Miguel Prieto. Opening February 8 (and continuing through February 23) at ACCC, the stage musical stars Austin Jeffrey Smith, Lindsey Mapes Duggin and Daxton Patrick in the film roles immortalized by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in the award-winning 1952 film version.

Actors Bridge Ensemble's acclaimed production of Sarah DeLappe's The Wolves and Cumberland County Playhouse's rendition of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street were named as the top shows of the year during Midwinter's First Night, the annual tribute to theater in Tennessee, held at Nashville's The Larry Keeton Theatre last Sunday night, January 13. Songs from Cole Porter's delightful musical Kiss Me, Kate, performed by some of Austin's best singers on Jan. 13, will benefit Austin Shakespeare. Jill Blackwood, Leslie Bonnell, Sharron Bower Anderson and Jacqui Cross will sing with Brian Coughlin, Colum Morgan, Kyle Stephens and Scott Shipman at the Parker Jazz Club on W 4th St. just off Congress. The evening will also feature Tapestry Artistic Director Acia Gray tap-dancing to "Too Darn Hot." Austin Chronicle Arts Editor Robert Faires will be master of ceremonies for the evening.
