Stray Cats Bassist Lee Rocker Comes To The Gracie To Rock This Town

Rockabilly music legend, Lee Rocker and his band, will be performing for one night only at Husson University's Gracie Theatre on Saturday, November 10, at 7:30 p.m. This Grammy-nominated member of the legendary music group Stray Cats will perform some of the band's signature hits like 'Sexy and Seventeen', 'Stray Cat Strut' and 'Rock This Town.' Original songs, and hits by Elvis and Carl Perkins will also be included in the concert performance.

The Eighth Annual Bickford Benefit Concert featuring an all-star ensemble of outstanding jazz artists from the Tri-State area comes to the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum for one night only on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 7:30 PM. The ensemble includes trumpeter/vocalist Bria Skonberg, cornetist Warren Vache, trombonist Mariel Bildsten, clarinetist Dan Levinson, pianist Rossano Sportiello, guitarist/vocalist Molly Ryan, bassist Rob Adkins, and drummer Mark McLean.  All of the ticket sales from this concert will go to support programming at the Bickford Theatre.

Jazz at Princeton University presents guest artist and Blue Note Records trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire in the world premiere of Slightly Left of Sorrow's Song, commissioned by Jazz at Princeton University to commemorate the 150th anniversary of W.E.B. DuBois' birth. Akinmusire will perform the 8-movement suite with the school's Small Group I under the leadership of saxophonist and program director Rudresh Mahanthappa.

Prominent Los Angeles  playwright, Josefina Lopez, takes the stage at the Garry Marshall Theatre to dive into the important issues portrayed in Lopez's coming of age comedy, "Real Women Have Curves," with a  special post-show discussion series that begins Oct. 17. Free and open to the public, the series will be led by Lopez herself and feature panelists uniquely related to issues including immigration, retaining one's heritage and women's beauty standards-all prevalent themes in the iconic play, which is currently running at the Garry Marshall Theatre through Nov. 18.

Within that genre they were wildly adventurous, playing noise shows, hardcore shows, rock shows, and switching up the instrumentation as they saw fit, while always operating within a general punk ethos.

David Tennant to Appear at Wizard World Austin 2018

David Tennant, who starred as the 'Tenth Doctor' on the long-running series 'Doctor Who,' has been added to the celebrity roster at this month's Wizard World Austin convention at the Austin Convention Center.
