The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program proudly presents its March thesis show, directed by Mauricio Salgado (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA '18). The play, An Acorn, by Caridad Svich, deals with humanity's response to a crisis and how memory, grief, and finding each other can save us all. The play begins performances March 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm, and will close on March 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Pell Chafee Performance Center, 87 Empire St., Downtown Providence.

The 70th anniversary season of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence will present an incomparable collection of artists from around the globe in six major opera productions; recitals, chamber music and orchestral concerts from July 4 through 24; plus multiple events from the Acad mie du Festival d'Aix in June and July. This double anniversary season - the Festival's 70th and the Academy's 20th - also celebrates the conclusion of Bernard Foccroulle's eleven-year tenure as general manager of the Festival. His legacy will be on display in the 2018 season with commissions, new productions, major participatory events, and significantly broader outreach to Arab and local audiences. Foccroulle will be succeeded by Park Avenue Armory artistic director and Dutch National Opera director Pierre Audi in September 2018.

Join the Des Moines Community Playhouse on Dec. 15 for 'The Elves and The Shoemaker.' This story is part of the 2017-18 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, Friday, Dec. 15, at 9:30 AM, 10:45 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. The first book about Weir Farm National Historic Site, Connecticut's first national park unit and the only one dedicated to American painting, will be authored by Xiomaro, the park's Visiting Artist, in a deal he signed with Arcadia Publishing. About 150 of Xiomaro's photographs will be accompanied with captions that, he explains, 'tells the big story of a small park.' The 60-acre site, nestled in Wilton and Ridgefield, is where J. Alden Weir (1852-1919), the father of American Impressionist painting, lived and created iconic works now seen at the Met, the Smithsonian and other world-class museums.

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the new Broadway production of J. B. Priestley's Time and the Conways, directed by Tony winner Rebecca Taichman (Indecent). The play returns to Broadway for the first time since its premiere in 1938 and opens officially tonight, October 10, 2017.

Franz Welser-M st will lead concerts on three continents as part of The Cleveland Orchestra's 100th season in 2017-18, including two trips to Europe, appearances in New York City, and a return to Tokyo's Suntory Hall. All told, over 20 concerts are planned across seven weeks of touring, in addition to the Orchestra's regular home season in Cleveland at Severance Hall.
