Houston Ballet Heading to Los Angeles This Fall

Distinguished American choreographer William Forsythe has selected Houston Ballet to perform in Los Angeles at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Oct. 21-23, as part of "Celebrate Forsythe", a program with a never-before-seen approach that salutes his works.  Houston Ballet will perform Artifact Suite, after its September premiere in Houston, a piece that both deconstructs and reconstructs the rules of traditional ballet. As the third Forsythe piece added to Houston Ballet's diverse repertoire, the visit to Los Angeles adds exciting momentum to a growing relationship with Mr. Forsythe's iconic works.

Soundstream to Welcome Sir James MacMillan to Toronto in March

Soundstreams continues its 2015/16 season this March with a visit from Scotland's most celebrated composer and conductor, Sir James MacMillan. The Music of James MacMillan on March 8 at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre features MacMillan conducting Choir 21 and the Virtuoso String Orchestra, and will include choral works by MacMillan, Canadian composers R. Murray Schafer and James Rolfe, and Norway's Knut Nystedt. Audiences across Ontario will also have the opportunity to experience this exceptional program at engagements in Kingston and Kitchener on March 4 and 6.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
