On Sunday, June 16, Washington, D.C.'s theatre community gathered to celebrate the end of MICHAEL KAHN's 33-year tenure as Artistic Director of Shakespeare Theatre Company with musical and dramatic performances, special guests from the worlds of entertainment, politics, and media, and a mayoral proclamation.

Italian director Franco Zeffirelli was died at age 96, according to AP.

Juliet and Romeo have been married for 25 years; they still love each other, it's just that sometimes they wish the other one were dead. First performed to wide-spread critical acclaim, including a Critics' Circle Award nomination for Solene Weinachter in the titular role, Juliet & Romeo is from Lost Dog, who previously came to the Fringe with the multi-award winning and Total Theatre Award nominated Paradise Lost (lies unopened beside me).

Central School of Ballet, one of the world's leading centres for professional dance training, will present an evening to showcase a selection of new works by choreographers Jenna Lee and Sophie Laplane at Jackson's Lane Theatre on 19th June.   Four new pieces will be presented at Jackson's Lane, all created as part of Central's MA Choreography programme.  The evening will feature performances by Ballet Central and guest dancers from world-renowned companies English National Ballet and Scottish Ballet.

Compagnia de' Colombari, an international collective of performing artists founded and directed by Karin Coonrod, presents More Or Less I Am: a music-theater piece drawn entirely from Walt Whitman's revolutionary free verse long poem, 'Song of Myself,'one of the original twelve pieces that comprise his 1855 collection Leaves of Grass. The next performance in this series, spanning multiple venues throughout the five boroughs, will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2019, 7:30 pm at Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn.  

Due to popular demand, the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T) has added an additional week of performances to the run of its world premiere production of We Live in Cairo written by brothers Daniel Lazour and Patrick Lazour. The production, currently in rehearsal under the direction of Obie Award winner Taibi Magar, will now close Sunday, June 23.

Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson and San Francisco Ballet today announced programming for the 2020 Repertory Season. The Season's three story ballets include Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Wheeldon's Cinderella, and Tomasson's Romeo & Juliet.
