Leaders in entertainment, business, philanthropy, and the arts will gather at the 3rd Annual Big Sunday Gala on Thursday evening, March 8th to celebrate two distinguished honorees - Marta Kauffman and Kaiser Permanente.  Big Sunday, one of the USA's foremost organizations connecting people through helping and opportunities to volunteer, now in its 20th year, will host the Gala celebration at Candela, 831 South La Brea Ave., Los Angeles, California 90036 beginning at 6 PM.

The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) is pleased to announce a compelling lineup—featuring a robust mix of 41 documentaries and narratives—for the 17th annual Westchester Jewish Film Festival (WJFF), including all 10 episodes of The Writer, one of the latest in Israel's brilliant streak of TV dramas. The festival spans two and half weeks from March 13–29, with all screenings and events taking place at JBFC, a nonprofit cultural arts center and one of the most successful suburban film houses in the country located in Pleasantville, NY. Presale tickets are available for members starting on February 13th, while tickets will be available for the general public on February 16th.

The Garifuna people and culture were created by one of the most dramatic ethnic mixings in history: two ships with enslaved Africans were shipwrecked off the coast of what is now St. Vincent and the Grenadines toward the end of the 18th Century, and with the help of the indigenous Carib-Indian population, overpowered the Spanish crew and escaped. Later, due to their continued resistance and rebellions against the British, their mixed progeny would then be exiled to the islands off the coast of Honduras. Instead of being isolated and dying off, their culture and oral language prospered and expanded into the Central American countries of Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, where they still live.

Over the past eleven years, The Playwrights Realm, led by Founding Artistic Director Katherine Kovner and Producing Director Roberta Pereira, has continually produced work by brave new voices and expanded its commitment to providing holistic support to playwrights striving to make a life in the arts. The Realm is now accepting applications for their two popular open submission programs: the Writing Fellowship and Scratchpad Series.

“Sometimes A Rose Will Grow In Concrete” (SRWGC) is the fifth studio album by critically acclaimed progressive soul artist Sy Smith. Often called the “Queen Of Underground Soul”, her previous works include “The Syberspace Social” (named in the top 10 albums of 2005 by The Boston Globe), “Psykosoul Plus” (2007) “Conflict” (2008, with charting radio singles “Fly Away With Me” and “The Art Of You”), and “Fast And Curious” (called “one of the best releases by a female” of 2012 by Soultracks.com).

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced additional details and casting for Hey, Look Me Over! (Feb 7 - 11), the Encores! original production which opens the 25th season of the beloved, Tony- honored series responsible for bringing classic American musicals back to life since 1994.

At its annual gala event, Celebrate Colburn, the Colburn School will honor renowned conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and acclaimed architect Frank Gehry with the Richard D. Colburn award, for their exemplary achievements and contributions to the worlds of classical music and the performing arts in Los Angeles and throughout the world. Celebrate Colburn takes place at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 7 p.m., followed by a post-performance dinner at a location to be announced.

The McCallum Theatre presents Colors of Christmas on Friday, December 8, at 8:00pm. A holiday tradition at the McCallum, Colors of Christmas celebrates its 25th anniversary with Peabo Bryson, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr., Ruben Studdard and Jody Whatley.

The Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts (SBCPA), which owns and operates the historic Granada Theatre, welcomes Merryl Snow Zegar to the Board of Directors. Zegar boasts an expansive history in finance and fundraising, as well as extensive involvement in the arts communities of New York City and Santa Barbara, making her an important addition to the SBCPA's Board of Directors.

Legendary singer Roberta Flack and leading theatrical producer Daryl Roth will receive the Town Hall 2017 Friend of the Arts Award, it was announced today. 

The powerful one-man play, Thurgood, makes a return visit to the Twin Cities from June 8-18 at the LAB Theater, 350 St. Peter St. in downtown St. Paul.

The Society for the Preservation of Theatrical History in association with New Perspectives Theatre Company (NPTC) is pleased to present a limited run engagement of STAGE STRUCK: Reclaiming the History of Women in Theatre written and performed by Paula Ewin*, Ginger Grace*, Mari Lyn Henry, Judy Rosenblatt*, and Sandhi Santini.
