Variety has just confirmed earlier rumors that stage and screen star Kenneth Branagh will take on a new big screen adaptation of Agatha Cristie's iconic detective novel MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. He will also star in the film.

Wild and wacky fun, just in time for the holidays, is onstage when Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the hilarious McCarter Theatre/Arena Stage production of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery running November 27-December 27 at PTC's home, the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Directed by Amanda Dehnert, the ensemble cast features Henry Clarke, Crystal Finn, Adam Green, Ron Menzel, and Matt Zambrano.

On Aug. 12, 2015, The Charlie Daniels Band's legendary Volunteer Jam, a star-studded, multi-genre musical extravaganza that has featured artists like James Brown, Billy Joel, Garth Brooks, Don Henley and Lynyrd Skynyrd (to name a few), returns to Nashville. Dame Judi Dench has signed on to BBC Two's filmed adaptations of classic Shakespearean plays, including Richard III and Henry VI.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run September 13 - September 27. Opening night is Sunday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. Single tickets go on sale on Friday, August 8 at noon.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been trying to get Judi Dench to star alongside him in BBC's upcoming adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard III. He was having some trouble persuading her, but, according to The Telegraph, Dench has finally agreed.

Pacific Symphony's critically-acclaimed American Composers Festival (ACF) continues for the 14th year with 'From Screen to Score: New Concert Music by Famous Film Composers'-who happen to be four of today's biggest Hollywood heavy-hitters: John Williams ('Star Wars,' 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' 'E.T., the Extra Terrestrial'), Howard Shore ('Lord of the Rings,' 'The Hobbit,' 'Hugo'), James Horner ('Titanic,' 'Star Trek,' 'Apollo 13') and Elliot Goldenthal ('Alien 3,' 'Batman Forever' and 'Batman and Robin'). Together, these iconic composers boast 11 Oscars and countless billions of box office dollars. They also hold the ironic position of simultaneously being the most-heard orchestral composers ever (the soundtrack for 'Titanic' sold 30 million copies), yet their music is the least performed.
