The Atlanta Pride Committee and The LGBT Institute at The National Center for Civil and Human Rights are proud to partner with the Fox Theatre to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the legendary Stonewall Riots, which became a watershed moment for the LGBTQ civil and human rights movement in America. This first-of-its kind event in Atlanta features a comedy show with Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro at the Fox Theatre today, June 20 at 8 p.m. The celebration continues with a drag show and performance by the legendary rock band Blondie on Friday, June 22 at 8 p.m. at the Fox Theatre. Local LGBTQ advocate and activist Feroza Syed will serve as the emcee for both events.

The Women's Forum of New York will present the 8th Annual Elly Awards Luncheon benefiting The Education Fund of the Women's Forum on Monday, June 18th at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. The awards, named for the Women's Forum founder Elinor Guggenheimer, will honor outstanding women leaders. This year marks the 31th anniversary of the Education Fund of the Women's Forum, which has helped over 220 women age 35 and over, whose lives have been disrupted by extreme adversity, complete their college degrees.

Richard Eyre's acclaimed Bristol Old Vic production stars Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons(Brideshead Revisited, Reversal of Fortune, 'The Borgias') and Olivier Award winner and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville(Another Year, 'Harlots,' Phantom Thread). Madison Square Park Conservancy announces its thirty-sixth exhibition, Delirious Matter by artist Diana Al-Hadid. Six new sculptures are installed across Madison Square Park's central Oval Lawn, peripheral lawns, and northern reflecting pool. Delirious Matter is the artist's first major public art project. It's on view from May 14, 2018- September 3, 2018.

BSM faculty members Margalit Cantor, Katherine Copland, and Marc Peloquin collaborate on a concert showcasing repertoire written specifically to compliment the duo of cello and voice with piano. Performing the works of great composers from Francesco Paolo Tosti to Andre Previn, the recital will highlight compositions through the ages written for this stunning combination. This promises to be a transcendent program that will surely pull on the heart-strings of its listeners.

From Sunday, June 3 through Friday, June 22, 2018, conductor Michael Christie will lead the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis in the world premiere performances of An American Soldier, the new two-act opera by Huang Ruo and Henry David Hwang, at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road). Tenor Andrew Stenson (Danny Chen), mezzo-soprano Mika Shigematsu (Mother Chen), and soprano Kathleen Kim (Josephine Young) make debuts with OTSL and join bass-baritone Wayne Tigges (Sergeant Aaron Marcum) and director Matthew Ozawa for this production.

Struggling with PTSD, homelessness, broken families, serious illness, physical injuries, and military sexual abuse, these inspiring women find ways to adapt to the challenges they face through participation in the “Ms. Veteran America” competition. Guided by event founder and veteran Major Jas Boothe, the women work hard to prepare for the competition, and, in the process, recover parts of their identities they had lost on the battlefield. Filled with humor and heart in equal measures, Served Like a Girl premieres on Independent Lens on Memorial Day,Monday, May 28, 2018, 10:00-11:30 PM ET (check local listings) on PBS.

Academy and Grammy Award winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson will perform in her hometown of Chicago for an intimate concert to benefit the Julian D. King Gift Foundation, the charitable organization created in honor of Hudson's nephew Julian D. King. Hudson will perform two shows during 'A Mother's Gift,' presented by Modern Luxury Chicago and Michigan Avenue magazine, on Thursday, May 10th at the Mayne Stage theater.
