Vortex Theater Company will open its 24th season, a season devoted to musicals, with a radical new version of Gilbert & Sullivan's audience favorite H.M.S. Pinafore, directed by Dave Dalton, with musical direction by Edward Barnes and choreography by Carrie Cimma.

Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance will return to the New York City's repertoire, beginning previews on Saturday, March 3 and opening on March 7; the production will star Marc Kudisch as the Pirate King

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre has selected the eight new musicals that will be presented as part of its upcoming Festival of New Musicals, including works by Andrew Lippa and Amanda McBroom

After 15 years away from the Broadway stage, and well-known as a romantic lead, British star Michael Ball is making his return to Broadway in the most anti-type of roles - Count Fosco in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Woman in White. Michael Ball, the preeminent leading man of the British musical, returns to Broadway in London's smash hit musical, THE WOMAN IN WHITE, opening Thursday, November 17th at the Marquis Theatre.
