Van Eaton Galleries has announced the largest Disneyland and Walt Disney World auction ever to be hosted by the renowned auction house. “A History of Disneyland & Walt Disney World” auction event will take place at Van Eaton Galleries over two days, Saturday, December 7, 2019 and Sunday, December 8, 2019 beginning at 10:00 a.m. each day. The collection to be offered includes over 1,500 rare items which trace the history of the iconic theme parks and Walt Disney's vision from inception to present day. Craft Recordings has announced a special, 60th-anniversary reissue of The Sound of Musica?'Original Broadway Cast Recording. Featuring legendary stage actress Mary Martin as Maria von Trapp opposite renowned actor Theodore Bikel, the album includes such unforgettable classics as a?oeMy Favorite Things,a?? a?oeEdelweiss,a?? a?oeDo-Re-Mi,a?? a?oeClimb Ev'ry Mountaina?? and, of course, a?oeThe Sound of Music.a?? Set for a December 6th release date, the soundtrack has been deftly remastered from the original three-track tape by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound and will be available on CD or 180-gram vinyl. The CD edition features new liner notes by The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization's Ted Chapin, while the two-LP vinyl seta?'pressed at RTIa?'comes housed in a replica of the original album's gatefold jacket. Inspired by William Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood of New York City in the mid-1950s. The story explores the rivalry between two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. The Jets, a white gang, and the Sharks, who are immigrants from Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, Tony, a former member of the Jets and best friend of the gang's leader, Riff, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks.

The 32nd Annual Virginia Film Festival will feature a deep and diverse program of more than 150 films, including some of the hottest titles on the festival circuit today, and an array of special guests from throughout the industry, and from across the globe. On October 10, the newly-established Athens Philharmonic performs a special concert under the direction of Yiannis Hadjiloizou The Philharmonic is joined by the NY Choral Society and soloists Larisa Martínez and Daveda Karanas. The classic Second City comedy sketches and original songs that launched generations of comedy legends have been re-booted and re-imagined for the company's current cast of future superstars in The Second City Tour: Greatest Hits (Vol. 59). The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, an octet drawn from the musician leaders of one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world, makes its Musco Center debut Tuesday, October 15 with works by Johannes Brahms, Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Felix Mendelssohn, plus a new piece by St. Martin in the Fields composer-in-residence Sally Beamish.

The title Perfect Arrangement refers to the compact of a male gay couple and a lesbian couple to hide in plain view from the disapproval of the world in 1950 by posing as two straight couples living in adjoining halves of a Georgetown duplex. The two halves are secretly connected through the residences' respective front closets, a passage that enables each real couple to reunite at night, unnoticed by the world outside. Such a setup is custom-made for farce.

Three groups at the center of the 1960s Folk Revival continue to delight fans with their smooth musical sounds: The Kingston Trio ('Where Have All the Flowers Gone,' 'Tom Dooley'), The Brothers Four ('Try to Remember') and The Limeliters ('Take My True Love by the Hand'). The groups perform at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Sunday, September 22 at 7 pm. Tickets are $39-$79.
