REPRISE 2.0 is now announced, presenting a season of three classic American musicals at UCLA's Freud Playhouse, by Marcia Seligson, Producing Artistic Director of the new performing arts organization.  REPRISE 2.0 is partnering with the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television's Department of Theater (UCLA TFT), chaired by Brian Kite. 

Violinist Janine Jansen concludes herPerspectives series at Carnegie Hall this season joining Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguinand The Philadelphia Orchestra on Tuesday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. for the New York premiere of Dutch composer Michel Van der Aa's Violin Concerto. The piece, written especially for Ms. Jansen, is described by her as “full of energy and lyricism,” and reflects Ms. Jansen's long-time artistic partnership with the composer. Mr. Van der Aa has said that Ms. Jansen's personality served as his inspiration for the work. “If Janine had played the flute, I would have written a flute concerto,” he said.

AVENUE Q - the Tony Award-winning Best Musical that features a cast comprised of people and puppets - will celebrate WORLD PUPPETRY DAY on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with what is to be an unprecedented large gathering of professional and amateur puppeteers and their puppets for a special performance and post-show soiree at New World Stages (Off-Broadway, 340 West 50th Street), starting at 8:00PM.

Damian Woetzel continues his innovative interdisciplinary series uniting artists from across fields in a special one-night only performance, March 7 in the Terrace Theater. Part of the inaugural DIRECT CURRENT, the Kennedy Center's two-week celebration of contemporary culture, this installment of the multi-genre series will present recently commissioned works, including a world premiere, and Washington, D.C. premieres by some of today's most creative and groundbreaking voices in dance and music.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado for the Orchestra's 16th annual summer residency there, performing six orchestral concerts July 20-27, 2018.

Grammy-Award winning American organist Paul Jacobs will appear as the featured soloist in three organ concertos with conductor Julian Wachner and his NOVUS Orchestra at Trinity Church Wall Street (75 Broadway, New York, NY 10006), Thursday afternoon, February 22nd, 2018, 1 pm. The Winnipeg New Music Festival's (WNMF) unique relationship with Iceland its innovative composers and their uniquely evocative music has evolved over a number of seasons. This year is the 100th anniversary of an important milestone in Icelandic history: the Danish Icelandic Act, a pivotal point in Iceland's history and journey to independence. In celebration of that event, the 2018 Festival (running Jan. 27-Feb. 2, 2018) presents multiple world premieres by Icelandic composers including a major new work for orchestra and choir by Hilmar rn Hilmarsson on January 31.

Tenri Cultural Institute presents the world premiere of Emily Bront Through Life and Death, A Chainless Soul, a poetic mono-opera in one act based on selected poems of Emily Bront by composer Akemi Naito on Friday, January 5th and Saturday, January 6th at 8pm. Honoring the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Emily Bront in 2018, this mono-opera is a collaborative work with mezzo-soprano Jessica Bowers, pianist Marilyn Nonken, actor Robert Ian Mackenzie, and visual artist Toshihiro Sakuma, whose Healing exhibition will be on view.

The Howard County Arts Council will mark 20 years of recognizing the local arts community's brightest stars at its signature event, the Celebration of the Arts in Howard County gala, to be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 6 10 p.m. at the Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howard Community College. The evening begins with a reception featuring delectable edibles provided by area restaurants and caterers, a silent auction of beautiful artwork by local artists, and musical performances in the Studio Theatre. At 8 p.m. guests will be invited to take a seat in the Smith Theatre for the live presentation of the Rising Star Performing Artists Competition and the 2017 Howie Awards. Seats will also be available in the Studio Theatre for a simulcast of the show. The Arts Council's 2018 Arts Scholarship recipients will also be announced. Tickets will be available for purchase in January 2018. Buddy and Sue Emerson, active supporters of a number of community and charitable organizations in Howard County and statewide, will act as Honorary Chairs for the evening. Myron Mo Dutterer, recipient of the 2003 Howie Award for Outstanding Arts Educator and a pillar of the Howard County theatre community, will serve as Event Emcee. The Rising Star Performing Arts Competition showcases ten young performing solo artists and/or small ensembles (ages 18-35) who live, work, or study in Howard County. These artists will be vying for a no-strings-attached $5,000 professional development award; the winner will be selected by the Celebration audience! The 2017 Howie Awards will also be presented on the Main Stage at the Celebration of the Arts. The Howie Awards are given annually to an Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Arts Educator, and Outstanding Business or Community Supporter of the Arts.
