This week one of the most beloved Disney stories of all time opens at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans. THE LION KING tells the story of Simba, a little lion who returns to his home to take his rightful place as the king of Pride Rock. With colorful music written by Elton John and Tim Rice, choreography by Garth Fagan, and direction by Julie Taymor, the story comes to life on stage like nothing that's ever been seen before. Beautiful costumes, masks, and puppets that the actors use make for a gorgeous production and magical experience for the audience.

C.P.E. Bach's Symphony No. 5, a devilishly difficult showpiece, sets the tone with its careening runs and shocking use of harmony.

Voices Carry, Inc. will present the World Premiere of Strings Attached, a multidisciplinary project, involving contemporary dance, abstract puppetry, an original score, and performance art, for two weekends opening on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles in Downtown LA. The work, which has been in development for three years, is a window into the human capacity to love, with a focus on the universal feelings of grief, forgiveness, devotion, entrapment, and joy. Great stories give voice to great music -  and the musical connection between Broadway and Opera has long fascinated and entertained audiences. In 1900 the theatrical success of David Belasco's play “Madame Butterfly: A Tragedy of Japan” led to Giacomo Puccini's 1904  grand opera “Madama Butterfly,”  which re-emerged in 1988 as David Henry Hwang's  Broadway hit and Tony Award winning  play “M. Butterfly. “  When Jonathan Larson's musical “Rent” opened in 1996 to rave reviews, audiences and critics loved the homage to Puccini's “La Boehme.”

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra will present Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto from the opening theme to its grand finale on April 28 and 30 at Music Hall.
