This 'eye-opening, life-affirming, unmissable' (TIME Magazine) Tony Award-winning play by Simon Stephens comes to Virginia Rep's November Theatre this Fall. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time opens Friday, September 21st, and runs through Sunday, October 14th, with two preview performances on Wednesday, September 19th and Thursday, September 20th. It is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Mark Haddon.

Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 2018-2019 season launches with the Tony Award-winning musical The Color Purple, adapted from Alice Walker's classic novel about the sisterhood, resilience and self-empowerment found in a community of black women living in rural Georgia in the early 20th century. The Color Purple begins preview performances on September 15, opens on September 21, and runs through October 28 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Timothy Douglas directs the production, joined by music director Darius Smith, who will bring the Grammy Award-winning score to life.

RyCa's 'Musical Theatre Reimagined' cabaret is back again, this time to celebrate it's first birthday.

Stars of the Tony Award-winning musical "Jersey Boys" and the stars of three PBS special are taking their considerable triple threat talents on the road and under the stars when they rock around the clock at SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre on Monday, August 20. The foursome will present a celebration of musical hits from the 1950s through 1970s, including Doo Wop, Motown and old-time rock and roll hits.

'Back 2 Broadway" shares the experience of one young man's journey, as he strives to live out his dreams of becoming a celebrated Broadway star. In this sequel to their 2017 performance, "Broadway Our Way," the protagonist must overcome his doubts and fears as he travels to Brooklyn's historic Kings Theatre to compete in a talent show for the coveted winning prize: A chance to sign a deal with one of the best agencies in the business. The full scripted musical, written and directed by Purelements Co-Artistic Director, Lakai Worrell, is a mashup of modern, West African, tap, jazz and hip-hop dance and songs performed by Purelements' Center of Artistic Refinement (COAR) program. General entertainment television network INSP has set the premiere date for the third season of its popular original culinary-travel series State Plate.  The new season will bow on Monday, September 24th in a new timeslot: 12:00PM ET.  Hosted by former American Idol winner, musician, and restauranteur Taylor Hicks, State Plate takes viewers on a tour of the most iconic foods across the country.  The announcement was made by Doug Butts, SVP of Programming for INSP.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Octavia Spencer and Queen Latifah will star in in The Rhinelander Affair following the controversial 1925 DIVORCE trial in New York involving a man from an upper-class New Rochelle family who married a bi-racial, working-class woman. It is a ripped from the headlines story from the 1920s with many meaty roles in what was a roller coaster ride about money, love, racism and betrayal.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced that Ain't Too Proud-The Life and Times of the Temptations, which premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, has broken the single-week box office record for the week ending Sunday, July 22, with a gross of $955,660.50. The critically acclaimed production, that ended its sold-out, five-week, pre-Broadway run on Sunday, broke the previous record of $916,877.00, held by the Kennedy Center's own 2011 hit production of Follies.

Co-directed and choreographed by Jordan Nichols and Travis Bradley, Playhouse on the Square's Dreamgirls is a two and a half hour theatrical energy drink, jam packed with slick production numbers performed by a fresh cast that is plainly up to the task of quenching the audience's thirst for a great time. There is much to be excited about with this production of Dreamgirls, which seems uniquely at home in Memphis, a city whose history and reputation are so intertwined with music and the superstars it has produced. Although the first third of Act I can be described as somewhat frenetic, the production quickly settles in and finds its footing, anchored by electrifying, well-directed performances by Breyannah Tillman as Effie, and Napoleon M. Douglas as Jimmy Early.
