David Hirson was born in New York City and was educated at Yale and Oxford. He is the author of two plays for the theatre, La Bête (1991) and Wrong Mountain (2000), both of which have been produced on Broadway. He has received numerous honours for his work, including the 1992 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy. The original Broadway production of La Bête was nominated for five Tony awards in 1991. A collected edition of his plays is published by Grove Press. He is currently working on a new version of Die Fledermaus for the Metropolitan Opera.

Olivier Award nominated actress Hannah Waddingham will be performing an intimate cabaret show at the Menier Chocolate Factory for 6 performances only from 16 March 2010. She will be joined by her big band to perform everything from swing and show tunes to pop and jazz. Musical direction is by Chris Walker.

The producers of All About Me announced today that due to the late change in directors, Michael Feinstein and Dame Edna's All About Me will begin previews at the Henry Miller's Theatre three days later than previously announced. All About Me's original director, Jerry Zaks, recently left the production to work as the head creative consultant on THE ADDAMS FAMILY, also heading to Broadway this spring. Casey Nicholaw stepped into fill Zak's shoes just a few weeks ago.

The New York Times is reporting that Tony-winner Jerry Zaks has officially been brought in to take over and to supervise THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Zaks will be billed as the show's 'Creative Consultant' with Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch still listed as directors and production designers, but it's been made clear that Jerry Zaks is the new man in charge.
He tells the Times that he is looking forward to 'taking this original musical to the next level.' As a result of taking this job, Zaks will no longer direct All About Me, which stars Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein.

Pasadena Playhouse announced casting today for their upcoming production of Lerner and Loewe's CAMELOT, featuring book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Nine-time Emmy Award-winning director/writer/producer David Lee (co-creator of 'Frasier' and director of the Ovation Award-winning production of Can-Can at Pasadena Playhouse) directs a cast of eight in this timeless tale of passion, desire and betrayal. Based on 'The Once and Future King' by T.H. White, CAMELOT was originally directed and staged by Moss Hart on Broadway in 1960. The musical, which is the first production of the Playhouse's 2010 Season, will play January 8 - February 7, 2010 with the official press opening on Friday, January 15 at Pasadena Playhouse.
