Finn Wittrock, Sarah Wayne Callies and Shuler Hensley to Lead THE GUARDSMAN at the Kennedy Center

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced Finn Wittrock as The Actor, Sarah Wayne Callies as The Actress, and Shuler Hensley as The Critic in the Kennedy Center production of The Guardsman in the Eisenhower Theater May 25 to June 23, 2013. Based on the 1910 comedy by Hungarian playwright Ferenc Molnar, The Guardsman features a new literal translation by Richard Nelson and is directed by Gregory Mosher. The press opening will take place on Thursday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Rialto Chatter: Jesse Eisenberg's THE REVISIONIST Heading to Broadway?

Jesse Eisenberg and Vanessa Redgrave currently star in the world premiere of Eisenberg's The Revisionist, directed by Kip Fagan, which began its limited run on February 6 at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street. Now according to the New York Times, the show wil extend yet again, now closing on April 27. Plus, the show is looking into a possible Broadway transfer for the 2013-14 season.

SILENCE! to Add Sunday Performances Beginning March 17

SILENCE! The Musical is adding Sunday performances beginning this weekend, kicking off its new Spring schedule. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run at the end of 2012, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records held by the show. Subsequently, the producers determined that the production would reopen on January 19th. After opening initially at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre which was constructed especially for the show.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater's Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that the world premiere of Buyer & Cellar, written by Jonathan Tolins, directed by Stephen Brackett, and performed by Michael Urie, will begin performances Wednesday, March 20 at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South.
