Manfred Honeck will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Richard Strauss's Oboe Concerto, with Principal Oboe Liang Wang as soloist; Beethoven's Symphony No. 6, Pastoral; and Suppe?'s Poet and Peasant Overture, Today, April 7, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 9 at 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the West Coast premiere of Treasure Island by Tony Award-winning director Mary Zimmerman. Critically praised as "nothing short of sublime" (Chicago-Sun Times), and "Zimmerman remains a superior storyteller " (Chicago Tribune), Treasure Island, a co-production with Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company, is a glorious adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's most beloved novel. Campbelltown Arts Centre has commissioned a significant new contemporary Indigenous theatre work, One Billion Beats examining the historical representation of Aboriginal people in Australian cinema, presented over four nights on 26 and 27 February and 4 and 5 March 2016.

The Vilcek Foundation just announced the winners of its annual Vilcek Prizes, recognizing immigrant contributions to the American arts and sciences. The 2016 Vilcek Prize in Theatre, presented to an immigrant artist with a record of major achievement in his/her field, is awarded to Blanka Zizka, the recipient of a $100,000 prize.
