Each year, Ensemble Theatre selects a classic play to be part of their season offerings. Last year it was 'The Iceman Cometh,' which was recognized by the Cleveland Critics Circle for 'Superior Achievement for a Non-Musical Production.' This year's choice is Eugene O'Neill's 1920 Pulitzer Prize winning, 'Beyond the Horizon,' the author's first full-length work.

They say that spring showers bring May flowers. At The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, spring showers have brought the musical Singin' in the Rain to the stage. Based on the classic MGM film, Singin' in the Rain is part of the theatre's 20th Anniversary Season. Last seen in Frederick nearly twenty years ago, Singin' in the Rain continues its run at Way Off Broadway through May 31st.

SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, written by Richard Alfieri, with choreography by Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) and directed by Michael Arabian (Waiting for Godot). SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS will also feature 6-time Ovation Award-winning actor David Engel. The Tony Award winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone, the latest from BroadHollow Theatre Company, is indeed a fascinating piece. I say fascinating because at its entertaining core, it is a show within a show spoofing old musicals. The plot includes mistaken identities, dream sequences, an unexcitable English butler, a Broadway producer going crazy over his Follies production, comical gangsters, a ditzy chorine, a harried best man, and a 'Drowsy', er, alcoholic, 'Chaperone' amongst other stereotypes.

Gulfport Little Theatre is proud to present its spring musical production, Gypsy, by Arthur Laurents, with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Gypsy is directed by Bryan VonderBruegge with musical direction by Alan Cahela, choreography by Twyla Boudreaux Moore, and costumes by Kelli Overmyer. The Assistant Director is Mary LaCour and the producer is Miyoshi McGravey. The show runs April 4-13, with curtain at 8pm todays and Saturdays, and matinee performances on Sunday with curtain at 3pm.

America-in-Play will present the premiere of A Time-Traveler's Trip to Niagra, Following the Bold Adventures and Strange Detours of an Unlikely Group of Travelers Across Time and America. Running May 3-18 at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 West 26th Street), this unique comedy interweaves two journeys up the Hudson River: one by bus in 2014 and one by steamboat in 1828. From upper class Brits taking a tour of the Early Republic to a modern brother and sister taking a bus ride upstate to trace their roots, the two trips converge at the iconic and spectacular Niagara Falls and aim to investigate the relationship between the American landscape and identity while exploring ties between past and future. A unique 'Dime Museum' exploring Americana and the play will be open 30 minutes before each performance.

The Cleveland Orchestra and the Lakewood community are joining together to present The Cleveland Orchestra at home in Lakewood, a neighborhood residency that began on February 17, 2014, when Cleveland Orchestra Assistant Conductor Brett Mitchell visited the Lakewood High School Chamber Orchestra to assist in preparation for an Ohio Music Educators Association State Ensemble Adjudicated Event. The four-month residency of educational programs and performances for all ages culminates in an intensive week of free events from May 17-24, 2014. The centerpiece of the Orchestra's activities in Lakewood will be a public Cleveland Orchestra concert led by Music Director Franz Welser-Most at Lakewood Civic Auditorium on Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. A delayed broadcast of the concert will be presented by WVIZ/PBS ideastream, and a live broadcast of the concert will air on WCLV 104.9 ideastream. Tickets will be distributed throughout Lakewood beginning on Saturday, April 26. (See list of distribution locations below.) The television broadcast will feature a composite of community collaborations, musical performances, and joint events and activities throughout Lakewood.

Fox Valley Repertory continues their 2014 theater series with one of the best-loved American memoirs recounted from the book by siblings Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey called Cheaper by the Dozen. This coming-of-age comedy, adapted by Christopher Sergel, will include nearly a dozen professional actors as well as another dozen youth actors making their professional debut.
