The Boston Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Andris Nelsons have announced the appointment of violinist Nathan Cole as the orchestra's new concertmaster. Cole will take the Charles Munch chair at the start of the BSO's 2024 Tanglewood season in July, becoming the orchestra's 11th concertmaster since its founding in 1881.

As part of their pioneering five-year-old BSO-GHO Alliance, the two orchestras will explore the Russian composer's 15 symphonies and six concertos with a third Festival Orchestra composed from the ranks of the Tanglewood Music Center and GHO's Mendelssohn Orchestra Academy and led by former BSO Assistant Conductor Anna Rakitina

Classic Stage Company devotes the beginning of 2019 to the timeless emotional and social resonance of August Strindberg, with new productions of two acclaimed adaptations-Yael Farber's Mies Julie and Conor McPherson's new version of The Dance of Death-presented in repertory.

Shakespeare & Company presents August Strindberg's dark comedy Creditors, adapted by critically acclaimed playwright David Greig and directed by Nicole Ricciardi of last season's hit show 4000 Miles. In this production of what Strindberg calls his 'most mature work,' three characters must face their past, confronting love, debt, and deception. Performances run from July 19 - August 12 in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre.

The Muny announced today its complete cast and design team for the theatre's centennial season production of Gypsy, July 27 - August 2. Gypsy is proudly sponsored by Missouri Lottery.

Hale Centre Theatre's season continues with the opening of a top-notch revival of Oscar Wilde's endlessly entertaining comedy The Importance of Being Earnest.  Directed by Cambrian James, this sparkling comedy which the London Telegraph calls "the most perfect comedy in the English language" plays April 5 through May 12, 2018.  Tickets are $32.00 and are on sale now to the general public. Helen Olaketi Mariah Shute-Pettaway, a 2011 First Night Honoree and one of Nashville's most revered actresses, will take on the iconic role of Regina Giddens in the ACT 1 production of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes. Directed by 2014 First Night Honoree Jeffrey Ellis, senior contributing editor for BroadwayWorld.com, The Little Foxes runs at Darkhorse Theatre May 4-19.

The Coney Island Ritual Cabaret Festival marks International Culture Lab's (ICL) third consecutive year probing the fantastical dancing partnership of ritual and entertainment on Coney Island USA's (CIUSA) burlesque stage. Full casting is today announced for the world premiere of Harley Granville Barker's Agnes Colander, edited by Richard Nelson. This newly discovered play will be directed by multi-award winning director Trevor Nunn and runs at the Ustinov Studio from Thursday 15 March to Saturday 14 April, with opening night for press on Wednesday 21 March.
