This week marks a very important event for DC area arts education. On June thirteenth, The Theatre Lab School of the Dramatic Arts (TTL) held its very first class and co-founders Deb Gottesman, Buzz Mauro and Michael Rodgers never looked back. The organization has changed locations a few times over the years but the quality of the work that Theatre Lab’s instructors and administration have given to hundreds and hundreds of students has always remained at the top of its game.

The Orange Tree Theatre today announces the full cast for Pierre Marivaux's The False Servant, translated by Martin Crimp, whose prolific international career began at the Orange Tree Theatre, including the recent hit revival of Dealing with Clair. The Juilliard School will hold its 117th commencement ceremony on May 20, 2022, at 10:30am. Skylight Music Theatre announced the full cast for the Wisconsin premiere of Dennis DeYoung’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, running May 20 through June 12, 2022. Performances take place in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

The Jimmy Awards has announce the 2022 INSPIRING TEACHER AWARD presented by WELLS FARGO will be given to Kristin Winchester, Durham School of the Arts (Durham, North Carolina), and Ian Sullivan, Hickory Ridge High School (Harrisburg, North Carolina).

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022–23 season of four plays. The season will begin with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, running October 6–29. James Bundy, who directed Albee’s A Delicate Balance at Yale Rep in 2010, will stage this new production of the explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. 

These legendary acts eventually made way for performers such as Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, and Faith Hill and present-day hitmakers Maren Morris, Yola, and Brandi Carlile. Casting has been announced for the World premiere production of Dave Harris’ new work, “Tambo & Bones,” coming to Los Angeles at the Center Theatre Group’s Kirk Douglas Theatre May 1 through May 29, 2022, opening May 8, 2022.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the nation’s premier ensemble theater company, is opening its stunning new in-the-round Ensemble Theater in Honor of Helen Zell with ensemble member Yasen Peyankov’s extraordinarily funny and lyrical adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, April 28–June 12, 2022.

The Philly POPS announced today that the 2022 kick-off of its popular Salute Series, Comcast NBCUniversal Memorial Salute, will take the stage on May 27, 2022 at 7 p.m at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts. Registration for military, veteran, police, firefighter, first responder, and frontline worker communities and their families will be available soon through affiliated bases and organizations.
