He shot to fame after winning the ITV show 'Superstar' which led him to front the UK arena tour of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock musical - and now Ben Forster is back and joining forces with musical theatre's greatest partnership once again.

On Sunday, 17th September, 8 Northumberland Avenue saw theatre veterans and newcomers gathering together to celebrate the latter's accomplishments. The first edition of The Stage Debut Awards was a success, and the red carpet turn-up was a grand and sparkling line of stars and stars-in-the-making. Dressed to the nines in suits, gowns, and make-up worthy of Hollywood's glitziest of nights and shrouded in the humbleness and grace that only belong to the theatre folk (well, most of them, anyway), actors, writers, composers, and directors walked with full hearts and starry eyes.

His West End work includes Evita and Elf: The Musical, and he's currently starring as the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

There are many London productions that come and go in the blink of an eye. What is to say why one show will succeed and another will not? Lost West End, produced by Stage Door Records, celebrates those that maybe didn't last on stage very long but the hidden gems within their scores live on. There are over twenty paid tribute to on this album spanning three decades, from Liza of Lambeth in 1976 to Too Close To The Sun in 2009. West End vocalists such as Graham Bickley. Meredith Braun and Alexander Hanson assist in recreating those forgotten moments.

Two of my very favorite things are satire and black comedy. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL has been a favorite of mine since the show took home Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical back in 2002. It is a rarity in today's musical theatre - a truly original musical which is not based on existing source material. The show got its start in 1995 when Greg Kotis (book and lyrics) was a struggling student on a budget traveling in Europe and encountered pay-per-use toilets. It was then that the musical's central idea hit him: a future where toilets were controlled by a corporation with no concern for the poor. According to Kotis, the show 'was created in a spirit of defiance against what's typically offered up as stage worthy in America today.'
