Center for Puppetry Arts has announced its upcoming 2013-2014 season. To celebrate its milestone 35th anniversary, the Center will continue its tradition of presenting great storytelling through puppetry, including innovative adaptations and dynamic new works by the Center's company, as well as acclaimed artists from across the U.S.

Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. Join hero Prince Stefan as he sets out to rescue the princess Aurora, and her family's kingdom, asleep for almost one hundred years. Told from the prince's point of view, this adaptation of the much-loved fairy tale combines beautifully crafted marionettes with the timeless music from Tchaikovsky's ballet.

ICT artistic director Shashin Desai directs Terry Davis, Daniel Kash and Christian Lebano in a four-week run, June 12 through July 5 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Diversionary Theatre's 2009-2010 season of two gender-bending musicals and four provocative plays includes two West Coast Premieres, dynamic local actors and directors, and a reading of a new queer opera. The six-show mainstage season includes: the new musical Twist by Gila Sand and Paul Leschen, based on Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist, directed by James Vasquez; Bent, the seminal play by Martin Sherman, in a co-production with ion theatre company; Paul Rudnick's big gay comedy The New Century, directed by Igor Goldin; same-sex marriage gets a comic nod with The Marriage Bed by Nona Shepphard, directed by Rosina Reynolds; laugh out loud with teenage angst in Speech and Debate by Steven Karam, directed by Jason Southerland; and filled with melancholy and lust, the musical play Moscow, by Nick Salamone and Maury R. McIntyre, rounds out the season.

Tony Award winners Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons will return to Broadway to star together in the world premiere of Impressionism, a new American play by Michael Jacobs. The production, which will be directed by Tony Award-winner Jack O'Brien, will come to Broadway in Spring, 2009.
