Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director), an award-winning company presenting Shakespeare alongside other classic and contemporary drama at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, Downtown Brooklyn, is pleased to announce its 2018-19 season-the 39th since its founding in 1979.

The Artistic Home Ensemble will present the Chicago premiere of Lauren Gunderson's ADA AND THE ENGINE as the final entry in its three-play 2018-19 season, according to company Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra, who announced the season today. The 36-year-old Gunderson was the most-produced playwright in America during 2017, according to American Theatre Magazine.

I remember reading Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson in fifth grade. It was one of my favorite Newbery Award winning books because of its themes of friendship and acceptance and its very real exploration of loss and grief. The book was published in 1977 and won the Newbery Award in 1978. Over the years the book has been plagued by censorship for a number of reasons-promoting secular humanism, questioning Christianity, using borderline offensive language, and portraying the death of a child. In the story, two children, Jesse and Leslie, become friends after Jesse loses a race to Leslie. Leslie loves to read, and Jesse loves to draw. Together they create an imaginary kingdom called Terabithia where they can be themselves and escape from the bullies at school and the tediousness of chores.

The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 55 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 29 world premieres. The selected shorts include a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers and were curated from a record 4,754 submissions. For the second year running, 40% of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, which consist of five narrative, three documentary, one animation, and one hybrid program. The program will also include special screenings and the 12th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts Film program, sponsored by Nutella®, runs throughout the Festival, April 18-29.

Stanislav Ioudenitch, Artistic Director of Park International Center for Music (Park ICM), announced today that their spring season kicks off in March with a world-class European performer never before heard in Kansas City and in one of Kansas City's acoustical gems, the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kansas. "We adore performing in the wonderful spaces of the 1900 Building," said Ioudenitch. "Between their 300-seat Parkway Room and their more intimate Rose Hall (75-150), they can accommodate our different needs as both of their halls can be "tuned" according to our performance requirements. It is truly a hidden jewel that is just being discovered in the Kansas City arts public."

The Film Society of Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art announce the complete lineup for the 47th annual New Directors/New Films (ND/NF), March 28-April 8. Throughout its rich, nearly half-century history, the festival celebrates filmmakers who represent the present and anticipate the future of cinema, daring artists whose work pushes the envelope in unexpected ways. This year's festival will introduce 25 features and 10 short films to New York audiences.

On Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 7:30pm, the Music Department of Stony Brook University will host a celebration of the music of composer Sheila Silver at the Kaufman Center's Merkin Concert Hall in New York City. This retrospective concert will feature Ms. Silver's lifelong collaborators alongside Stony Brook faculty, students and noted alumni in works written over the past 25 years, including arias, songs, instrumental chamber and multi-media works.

In May 2017, Utah Opera will present Mozart's “Don Giovanni,” a tale of love, seduction, and murder as seen through the stylized lens of a 1950s “film noir” cinematic approach. This production will be performed five times at the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre on May 13, 15, 17, 19 at 7:30 PM and May 21 at 2 PM. In the final subscription concerts of his tenure as Music Director, Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic joined by musicians from orchestras around the world in concerts celebrating the power of music to build bridges and unite people across borders. Those invited to participate include members of orchestras from Australia, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The program, taking place Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, June 9 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m., will include Mahler's Symphony No. 7. Special guest artists will include cellist Yo-Yo Ma, on June 8, and trumpet player Wynton Marsalis, on June 9.

Vocalist B.J.Ward, who released B.J. Ward Sings Marshall Barer on Concord Records in 2005, will perform the late lyricist's music at London's The Crazy Coqs on April 13th at 8pm, with UK pianist and composer, Simon Wallace. Ward is one of the most popular voice talents in the U.S., known both as a voiceover talent who has voiced hundreds of films, TV and games, and as a concert artist. Her very popular one-woman show, Stand-Up Opera, has played at The Kennedy Center and Ward has been a guest artist with symphonies and Performing Arts Centers around the U.S. On the day following the Crazy Coqs show, Ward releases Double Feature (LML), a recording dedicated largely to film music, with the legendary pianist, Donn Trenner.

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
