According to Variety, Viola Davis will star in DreamWorks Studios' 'The Help,' an adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's best-selling novel. Davis, who is currently in previews for Broadway's Fences also starring Denzel Washington, will play Aibileen.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has announced the nominees for the 2010 24th Annual MAC Awards. The ceremony honoring the nominees, will take place on May 4, 2010 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, and will be hosted by Sharon McNight. Leslie Uggams will be honored for Lifetime Achievement, with Board of Directors Awards being presented to Peter Leavy and playbill.com. The event will begin at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Lennie Watts will direct the evening, with Tracy Stark musical directing.

The show will also feature Rich Sommer as Jimmy Wilson, Alec Mapa as Suzuki St. Pierre, Neal Bledsoe as Tyler and Nestor Serrano as Anthony Talercio, with Adam Rodriguez as Bobby Talercio.

Brian Stokes Mitchell to Guest Star on 'Ugly Betty'

Tony Award nominee Brian Stokes Mitchell will join the cast of ABC's 'Ugly Betty' for a guest starring role as Vanessa Williams' ex in an upcoming episode, TVGuide.com is reporting. Mitchell will play the role of Don, a simply guy who is the antithesis of Wilhelmina. It is reported that Mitchell's role may be recurring. The episode will air sometime in March.

Broadway icon Brian Stokes Mitchell can now add literature to his lengthy list of artistic accomplishments. The actor and singer recently collaborated with award-winning writer Harriet Ziefert on the children's book, 'Lights on Broadway: A Theatrical Tour from A to Z'. The book offers young theatre enthusiasts a fun approach to all things theatrical, including a slew of quotes from famous Broadway performers, and fun-filled theater facts and trivia. Mitchell wrote the introduction and postscript for the book, and recorded the song I Was Here.
