Celebration Theatre Presents THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE. Previews 4/21

Celebration Theatre is thrilled to present the West Coast Premiere of a brand new musical, THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE - The Musical, with music, book and lyrics by Tim Acito (Zanna, Don't), choreography by Ameenah Kaplan (Altar Boyz, Frosty the Snow Manilow), musical direction by Greg Nabours (A New Brain), directed by Michael Matthews (Haram Iran, Beautiful Thing) and produced for Celebration Theatre by David Tarlow. THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE - The Musical will preview on Wednesday, April 21, and Thursday, April 22 at 8pm and will open on Friday, April 23 at 8pm and run through Sunday, June 6 at Celebration Theatre, 7051B Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE - The Musical premiered in 2007 as a co-production between the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta and Arena Stage in Washington D.C., and is based on Gloria Naylor's beloved award winning collection of stories. Using an original score of R&B, pop, disco and old school funk, the musical tells the individual stories of eight very different African American women in a 1970's housing project who are struggling with issues of identity, poverty, hope, love and loss. Simultaneously comic and heartbreaking, wise and shortsighted, noble and flawed, each of the women must ultimately face the largest question of all - where does one's individual story end, and the story of one's community begin?

Michael served as the Artistic Director of Celebration Theatre from 2005-2008. Michael is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, National Shakespeare Conservatory, NY, and an alumnus of Director's Lab West 2008, Pasadena Playhouse.

THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE - The Musical has assembled an award-winning design team. The scenic design is by Kurt Boetcher, the lighting design is by Cameron Zetty, the sound design is by Cricket S. Myers, costume design is by Naila Sanders and the prop design is by Michael O'Hara. The show is Stage Managed by Amy Stoddard. Celebration Theatre's Artistic Director is Michael A. Shepperd, Managing Director is Michael C. Kricfalusi.

ABOUT THE SCHEDULE AND PRICING

THE WOMEN OF BREWSTER PLACE will preview on Wednesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 22at 8pm and open on Friday, April 23 and will run through Sunday, June 6. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sunday matinees at 3pm. Ticket prices are $15.00 for previews, $35.00 for opening night, and $30.00 for all other performances.
