Composer John Supko's s_traits, created in collaboration with media artist Bill Seaman, comes out Tuesday, November 4 on the Manchester-based Cotton Goods label. It is the second album devoted to Supko's music, following drawn only once on New Amsterdam in 2011. A live performance event is planned in conjunction with the release; watch this space for details.

Discover the evolving genius and unique musical voices of “Beethoven, Debussy and Mendelssohn” during the first concert of Pacific Symphony's 2014-15 Café Ludwig chamber series, which this season explores music written at the early, middle and late periods of a composer's life. As an anchor, the three-concert series features three of Beethoven's cello sonatas, each written at a different stage of his musical development, performed by the Symphony's Principal Cellist Timothy Landauer. For the seventh season, charming and sensational pianist Orli Shaham serves as host, leading this afternoon of music on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. in the intimate Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Two new plays have been added to The Blank Theatre's Living Room Series schedule. The 2014 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Gala 'One Acts for a Cause' is set to take place on Sunday, June 22 at 7:30pm at the East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street). The evening, which will benefit the non-profit NYC food services agency City Harvest, will showcase world premiere one-act plays by four acclaimed playwrights: Obie Award-winner Israel Horovitz (Line, The Indian Wants the Bronx), Erik Ehn (13 Saints, Soulographie: Our Genocides at La MaMa; currently head of playwriting and professor of theatre and performance studies at Brown University), Wendy MacLeod (The House of Yes, Juvenilia and The Water Children which both premiered at Playwrights Horizons, and Things Being What They Are, which premiered at Seattle Repertory Theatre and had an extended run at Steppenwolf), and Winter Miller (In Darfur which premiered at The Public Theater; The Penetration Play produced by 13p). Arden Theatre Company today announced Wendy MacLeod as the first playwright to take up residence in The Writers' Room, an innovative new play program funded by The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Cultural Management Initiative and the Independence Foundation through its New Theatre Works Initiative. McLeod's unique residency will begin in April 2012 and over a four month period, she will write and rehearse a new play which will run on the Arden's stage July 5-15, 2012.
