Blue Note Entertainment Group has announced its first-annual NEW YORK BRASS AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL, a celebration of New Orleans music and culture today, January 7-12, 2014.

In December, National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced that The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of 895 nonprofit organizations to receive an Art Works grant. The $50,000 grant supports the 2013-2014 Composer of the Year residency program.

Famed singer, actress and Broadway star Eydie Gormé has died at age 84. Spokesperson Howard Bragman said 'Legendary singer and performer Eydie Gorme passed away peacefully today at Sunrise Hospital following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her husband, son and other loved ones at the time of her death.' In his own statement, Steve Lawrence said: 'Eydie has been my partner on stage and in life for more than 55 years. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her and even more the first time I heard her sing. While my personal loss is unimaginable, the world has lost one of the greatest pop vocalists of all time.'

Carnegie Hall presents conductor Christian Thielemann leading the venerable Staatskapelle Dresden in two concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage this April. Tonight, April 17 at 8:00 p.m., Maestro Thielemann conducts an all-Brahms program, featuring the composer's Symphony No. 4, Academic Festival Overture, and the Violin Concerto with acclaimed violinist Lisa Batiashvili.
