The lyrical season will feature 12 titles, such as Turandot, by Busoni, Gianni Schicchi, by Puccini, Le Comte Ory, by Rossini, among others. The program also includes ballets, cinema and music, and concerts in a year in which São Pedro establishes partnerships with the Cinemateca, the São Paulo Companhia de Dança and guest orchestras.

The Lantern’s first collaboration with nationally prominent director and playwright Steve H. Broadnax III, this world premiere play with music shows the dramatic confrontation between the great American blues musician Robert Johnson and the Devil from whom, legend has it, Johnson received his extraordinary talent.

Lantern Theater Company announced today that its world premiere digital production of Me and the Devil, the Lantern's first collaboration with nationally prominent director and playwright Steve H. Broadnax III, will extend its streaming run through Sunday, November 21, 2021, to meet audience demand.

Chicago Folks Operetta (CFO) is proud to announce its 2017 season titled “War and Remembrance.” Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the United States' entry into World War I, the season includes the fully staged Chicago premiere of Kurt Weill's anti-war operetta Johnny Johnson, June 24 – July 9, “Kurt Weill and Paul Green: The Story Behind Johnny Johnson,” a lecture with performances featuring Weill Scholar Tim Carter, May 24 and the CFO premiere of a concert  called Operetta and The Great War, June 28 and 29. BTG's exciting revival is the first ever full-scale New York City and Off-Broadway revival of the hit musical. Previews of Fiorello! will began Sunday, September 4, at East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues), with opening night being held tonihgt, September 9, 2016.

Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) has just announced its sold-out production of Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Fiorello! will transfer to Off-Broadway's East 13th Street Theater (136 East 13th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues), home of Classic Stage Company.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

The world premiere of the new edition of Johnny Johnson by Paul Green and Kurt Weill, with text and music not heard since 1937, will be staged at the University of North Carolina. Performances will take place in the Kenan Theatre, Center for Dramatic Art on Thursday, November 20th at 8pm, Friday, November 21st at 8pm (post-show discussion), Saturday, November 22nd at 8pm (pre-show symposium), Sunday, November 23rd at 2pm, and Monday, November 24th at 5pm.
