This collection includes some of the most glorious productions of the musical theatre icon's works. Ranging from original Broadway casts to starry-concerts, THE STEPHEN SONDHEIM COLLECTION includes DVDs of five of Sondheim's most influential shows, and a sixth disc of the master's 80th Birthday Concert.

Dare to Defy Productions announces the company's 2015-16 season today. Featuring six productions presented in either the Mathile Theatre in the Schuster Center or the Victoria Theatre in downtown Dayton, the season includes Into the Woods, Godspell, Footloose, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Wild Party and American Idiot!

Acording to the Chicago Tribune, theatre legend Stephen Sondheim will receive Chicago Public Library Foundation's 16th Carl Sandburg Award. As a part of the ceremony on October 21, 2015, Sondheim will be interviewed onstage by Scott Simon of NPR. The Carl Sandburg Literary Award is presented annually to an acclaimed author in recognition of outstanding contributions to the literary world and honors a significant work or body of work that has enhanced the public's awareness of the written word. The Carl Sandburg Award in the Arts is presented to an individual who embodies a spirit of creativity and social consciousness.

The critically acclaimed Broadway by the Year series fifteenth season will bring 100 years of Broadway history in four incredible evenings.

On March 22, musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim will celebrate his 85th birthday, and Buzzfeed has reached out to some of Broadway's finest to find out why they love his work. Barbra Streisand said:

The Public Theater announced additional casting today for the 2015 Free Shakespeare in the Park season, beginning Wednesday, May 27 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. This summer will feature Shakespeare's late romances with THE TEMPEST, directed by Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, and CYMBELINE, directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan. Jesse Tyler Ferguson will return to the Park this summer as Trinculo in THE TEMPEST, along with Hamish Linklater and Lily Rabe teaming up again with Daniel Sullivan on CYMBELINE to play Posthumus Leonatus/Cloten and Imogen, respectively.

On Saturday, April 18 at 3:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) joins musical director and co-host Leslie Stifelman and director and choreographer Melissa Rae Mahon from Chicago: The Musical, co-host Thomas Cabaniss, and The Broadway All-Star Chorus-comprising top performers from the Great White Way-for a fun, interactive Carnegie Hall Family Concert that gives parents and their children the opportunity to sing and dance along with their favorite Broadway numbers.

Due to popular demand, the New York Philharmonic and Warner Bros. will present an additional performance of Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, a program celebrating classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons with the New York Philharmonic playing the music live while the animation is screened.

Tony Award-winning costume designer, JESS GOLDSTEIN (currently represented on Broadway with Jersey Boys and On the Town), and scenic designer DOUGLAS W. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Ballet is pleased to announce casting and libretto for the world premiere of Septime Webre's Sleepy Hollow, Wednesday, February 18 - Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater. The Company will be joined by guest artist, Xiomara Reyes, a principal dancer at American Ballet Theatre who will premiere the role of Katrina Van Tassel. Reyes studied at Cuba's National Ballet School. Prior to joining ABT, she danced as a First Soloist at the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Reyes joined American Ballet Theatre as a Soloist in 2001 and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2003. Her awards include the Gold Medal for the Best Soloist at the International Ballet Competition of Chiclayo, Peru (1996), Best Couple Prize at the XIV International Ballet Competition in Varna (1990) and Silver Medal at the Cinquienne Concours International de Danse de Paris (1992).

Porchlight Music Theatre presents the second production in its 20th Anniversary Season of Sondheim, the Chicago premiere of Sondheim on Sondheim, beginning tonight, February 6, and running through March 15, 2015, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by James Lapine, direction by Nick Bowling with music direction by Porchlight Artistic Associate Austin Cook at Stage 773, 1225 W. After seeing the new INTO THE WOODS movie twice over the holidays, I posted on Twitter about how two of the songs had stuck with me. After a tweet conversation, my BWW colleague Jeff Walker and I decided to put our heads together to try and come up with a list of Sondheim's most hummable tunes. Despite not discussing it beforehand, Jeff ended up picking songs from the 1960s and 70s, and I filled in the gaps with numbers from the 80s and 90s.
