Devilish Theatrical in association with Theatre of Arts has announced the world premiere of The Devil You Know-A Rhythm & Blues Story, a new musical with book by David Carey Foster & Larry Poindexter, and music & lyrics by Poindexter. Directed by Darin Anthony with musical direction by Brad Ellis, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Trevon Davis, Julia Harriman, Gildart Jackson, Harrison Killian-White, Alexis Krause, Braxton Molinaro, Larry Poindexter, Niles Rivers, Sasha Sloan, James Patrick Stuart, and Bill Watterson. Opening is set for Sunday, October 2 at 4pm and the strictly limited engagement will run through October 23 only.

Nothing Special is participating in a very special international movement protesting the Brock Turner verdict and other lenient rape sentences. Conceived by playwright Carolyn Kras, The Subject Project is coordinating staged readings of Kras' play The Subject, concerning the sexual assault of Princess Sophia, daughter of King George III, and the royal family's attempts to silence her from speaking out about her abuse. The aim of The Subject Project is to peacefully protest lenient rape sentences like that of Brock Turner's, raise awareness and dialogue about sexual assault, and take action to reduce violence.

Voices Carry, Inc. will present the World Premiere of Strings Attached, a multidisciplinary project, involving contemporary dance, abstract puppetry, an original score, and performance art, for two weekends opening on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles in Downtown LA. The work, which has been in development for three years, is a window into the human capacity to love, with a focus on the universal feelings of grief, forgiveness, devotion, entrapment, and joy. Voices Carry, a nonprofit corporation guided by Artistic Director Madeline Leavitt, is dedicated to breaking down cultural barriers and embracing diversity through dance, theatre, and performance art.
