Metropolitan Playhouse, "theatrical archaeologist extraordinaire" (Back Stage), presents a revival of The Great Divide, the 'Great American Drama' by William Vaughn Moody, premiered in 1906 (as The Sabine Woman) and now receiving the first professional production in the city since 1917 at Metropolitan's home: 220 E 4th Street from March 5th to April 3rd, 2011.

Harry Houdini (1874-1926), the renowned magician and escape artist, was one of the 20th century's most famous performers. His gripping theatrical presentations and heart-stopping outdoor spectacles attracted unprecedented crowds, and his talent for self-promotion and provocation captured headlines on both sides of the Atlantic. The Jewish Museum is presenting the first major art museum exhibition to examine Houdini's life, legend, and enduring cultural influence from October 29, 2010 through March 27, 2011. Through 163 objects, including 26 recent works of art, exhibition visitors will explore the career and legacy of the celebrated entertainer while considering his lasting impact on contemporary art and culture.

Television and film star Zach Quinto is expected to star in the upcoming George Gershwin biopic, produced by DreamWorks and Steven Speilberg, according to published reports. Quinto, star of television's 'Heroes' and the recent JJ Abrams Star Trek remake, will play the famed composer who, during his short life, wrote many vocal and theatrical works, including more than a dozen Broadway shows.
