It’s astounding, time is fleeting, madness takes its toll. . .no it’s the opening weekend of Padgett Productions THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. The cult musical, which has become a Kansas City favorite, has been ushering in the Halloween season for several years. I have been in the audience at least once (most years twice) each season and am glad to report it gets better every year. I don’t know if it is the witches and goblins of Halloween or the creative genius of Nick Padgett the Artistic Director that makes it unique each year, but it is the time of year for magic.

The ASCAP Foundation Alan and Marilyn Bergman Lyric Award is a new program established by the award-winning songwriting team, Alan Bergman and his late wife, Marilyn. The legendary duo wrote lyrics for film, stage and television for more than five decades, which earned them multiple Emmys, Grammys and three Oscars.

To prepare for his ambitious new musical project, Tradisyon, the uniquely talented Haitian-Canadian songwriter, guitarist and producer Wesli (Wesley Louissaint) had to return to his roots. CD Available Worldwide on October 21, 2022.

What did our critic think of TOOTSIE at Rochester Broadway Theatre League? The Rochester Broadway Theatre League begins its 2022-2023 M&T Bank Broadway season with something fun and splashy, a perfect date night musical based on one of the 1980s' most beloved pop culture gems. 'Tootsie', the Robert Horn and David Yazbek musical adaption of the 1982 Dustin Hoffman film of the same name, is a light and springy show about showbiz, which also attempts to grapple with the difficulties of being a woman in a man's world. Rochester is the first stop on Tootsie's national tour.

Screenings will kick off with the Opening Night presentation of Mark Fletcher’s Patrick and the Whale, followed by the Centerpiece Selections of Ben Klein and Violet Columbus’ The Exiles and Shaunak Sen’s All That Breathes, with Kathlyn Horan’s The Return of Tanya Tucker – Featuring Brandi Carlile screening on Closing Night.

Next up at Theatre 40, Norm Foster’s A Clean Brush world premieres September 23, 2022. Howard Storm directs the cast of Mandy Fason, Susan Priver, Michael Kerr and James Lemire. I got the chance to pepper Norm (a.k.a. the Canadian Neil Simon) on this world premiere and his extensive resume of 67 plays.

BroadwayWorld talks to acclaimed actor-playwright Brian Copeland about his funny & touching new solo show 'Grandma & Me: An Ode to Single Parents' running at The Marsh San Francisco thru November 19. Copeland is best known for 'Not a Genuine Black Man,' the longest running solo show in San Francisco theatre history.

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan, the first production of Paper Mill’s 2022-2023 season. The production will feature Linedy Genao (On Your Feet! on Broadway) as Gloria, and Brandon Espinoza (Broadway’s SpongeBob SquarePants) as Emilio.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced the cast for the blockbuster tap dancing extravaganza 42nd Street. The toe-tapping crowd-pleaser will run from Sept. 16 – Nov. 6 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn. 

Boyd Gaming will bring highly acclaimed entertainment to The Orleans Hotel and Casino and Cannery Casino Hotel in October. Grammy award winning R&B and jazz artist Jeffrey Osborne and funk band The Commodores will perform at The Orleans Showroom.

Communications strategist Alyssa Farah Griffin joins the table as co-host in the conservative seat, and a familiar face to “The View” audience, Ana Navarro, has been officially named co-host. Based on real life events, it's a coming out story that needs to be expanded to be able to feel the full emotional weight.

What did our critic think of 9 TO 5 at FMCT? 9 to 5 is a 2008 stage adaptation of the classic 1980 comedy movie starring Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, Lilly Tomlin and Dabney Coleman. The musical features music & lyrics by Dolly Parton. Dolly also wrote the title song for the 1980 movie.

Adrian Edmondson will play Ebenezer Scrooge in the Royal Shakespeare Company's revival of David Edgar's adaptation of Dickens' much-loved classic story A Christmas Carol.  The production, directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, runs in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon between 26 October 2022 – 1 January 2023.
