The 33rd Annual Los Angeles Women's Theatre Festival (LAWTF) will present awards to six women for their significant contributions to theatre on March 26, 2026. The Library of Congress has acquired rare handwritten music and lyric sketches from Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg’s The Wizard of Oz, including the only known draft of “Over the Rainbow.” The materials join the Harold Arlen Collection and will be displayed in Washington, D.C., from October 23, 2025 to January 7, 2026.

The Library of Congress has acquired rare music and lyric sketches from composer Harold Arlen and lyricist E.Y. “Yip” Harburg, best known for their collaboration on the score of “The Wizard of Oz” in 1939.

Tony winning singer and actress Diahann Carroll has died Friday at the age of 84.The Broadway community mourns the loss of beloved performer, pioneer, and Tony Award winner Diahann Carroll, who passed away on October 4, 2019 at age 84. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of the American Airlines, Broadhurst, Helen Hayes, Hudson, Marquis, New Amsterdam, Samuel J. Friedman, St. James, and Vivian Beaumont Theatres in New York for one minute on Wednesday, October 16th at exactly 7:45pm.

Stage and screen star, Patricia Morison died today at the age of 103 at home in Los Angeles of natural causes. A stage icon and legend best known for her starring roles in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate and The King & I opposite Yul Brynner, she established an indelible mark in films with a reputation as a the villainous femme fatale with large blue eyes and extremely long, dark hair that made her a favorite of studios and fans alike.
