September 14 marks the launch of O17, the first edition of Opera Philadelphia's new annual season-opening festival. Featuring seven operatic happenings, six city venues, three world premieres, many already sold-out performances, and one superstar Festival Artist, this twelve- day immersion will transform the City of Brotherly Love into an urban stage for diverse audiences to gather and connect through the shared experience of opera (Sep 14-25). O17 shines a contemporary light on the genre, tackling daring subject matter, offering cutting-edge takes on the classics, and providing extraordinary artists with the chance to create their most imaginative and inspired work.

The Second City, Chicago's legendary sketch and improv comedy theater, returns to The Cape Playhouse for a special fall engagement with a new show, The Best of The Second City. This must-see show features the best sketches and songs from The Second City's 55-year history made famous by superstars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more-- as well as their trademark improvisation. Come see where it all began during this special 5- performance engagement, playing September 5-9.

Civilized, The Second City and the historic Montalban Theatre will present the first of a series of comedy events on September 28 and 29, with live shows featuring iconic material from The Second City archives, original sketches about modern cannabis culture, and The Second City's world-famous improvisation.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley kicks off its 48th season with the World Premiere of The Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga. Drawn from one of the first ever graphic novels, set to an infectious ragtime and vaudeville score by local composer/lyricist Min Kahng, the comic musical follows four Japanese immigrants in a world of possibility and prejudice: turn-of-the-twentieth-century San Francisco. From a tumultuous earthquake to an exhilarating World's Fair, the quartet pursues the American Dream, despite limited options in the land of opportunity. Directed by TheatreWorks Associate Artistic Director Leslie Martinson, and developed at TheatreWorks' 2016 New Works Festival, the World Premiere ofThe Four Immigrants: An American Musical Manga will be presented July 12-August 6, 2017 (press opening: July 15) at Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Based in Israel, Roy Assaf Dance makes its U.S. debut with a program of clever and heartfelt works in the Doris Duke Theatre July 12-16. A rising choreographic star, Assaf has been commissioned by companies across the globe including Batsheva Dance Company, The Royal Swedish Ballet, National Dance Company Wales, and LA Dance Project. The program opens with Assaf's embracing duet Six Years Later which is praised for its "beauty, nuances, and intricate, astute movements" (Ora Brafman, Jerusalem Post), and closes with his powerful all-male trio The Hill, inspired by veterans' experiences and based on the Hebrew song "Givat Hatachmoshet".

Hologram USA Networks Inc.  today announced a partnership with Chicago's historic Avalon Regal Theater to install its patented hologram technology on a permanent basis, allowing live artists to be "beamed" in by telepresence, and for performances by Hologram USA's recreated stars from the past.  The Avalon Regal and the Hologram USA theater in Los Angeles, will be the first full time dedicated hologram theaters in the United States, and their launch kicks off a campaign to build and install 100 theaters nationwide. The network of theaters will be supported by Hologram USA Networks and the FilmOn TV and FOTV Media Group.

From June 9 to 25, La MaMa and Yara Arts Group will present '1917-2017 Tychyna, Zhadan & the Dogs,' a new theatre piece with poetry which examines what individuals do when a society crumbles.

GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI! ERRATICA, the international new British music theatre company, will bring the world premiere of Remnants to the Print Room at the Coronet, this summer.
