Jermyn Street Theatre announces today that Hannah Arterton will star in the stage premiere of Rose Heiney's Original Death Rabbit, the opening production in The PORTRAIT season. Hannah, who can currently be seen playing a leading role in Safe (Netflix/Canal+/Red Productions) and whose recent television credits include The Five (Sky/Red Productions) and Versailles (Canal+/BBC), will take the role of a young woman who becomes an internet sensation, just as the rest of her life falls apart.

As part of Theater Latte Da's commitment to developing new works, this production of Glen Berger's acclaimed play features original music commissioned by Latte Da from Grammy award-winning composer Frank London, founding member of The Klezmatics. Theater Latte Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein directs the production with Music Director Dan Chouinard and vocalist Natalie Nowytski. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announces its 2019-2020 season of Performances for Young Audiences designed to inspire and engage audiences both young and young at heart. Dee Perry's narration required the dancers to move beyond the rhythm of the music (an original score by Jeremy Allen) in relationship to her voice. Wade took his audience into consideration, intending for the reactions of children to fill quiet places in the score. In this work, everyone participated - the audience a necessary collaborator in this read-aloud.

In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY announces Tobia Rossi's play Hide and Seek (Nascondino) as the 2019 Mario Fratti Award winner. The award ceremony will take place on Monday, May 13 at 6pm at the Italian Cultural Institute (686 Park Ave, New York, NY 10021) where the reading of the translation of the play, made by the official translator of the award Carlotta Brentan, will be presented together with the award to playwright Tobia Rossi. Special mention goes to Ulisse-L'ultimo Inganno by Antonia Brancati in second place and third place goes to L'Annunciazione by Pasquale Faraco.

From Wednesday, February 6 through Thursday, February 14 BAM presents Race, Sex & Cinema: The World of Marlon Riggs, the first stop in an ongoing, international celebration of the groundbreaking artist. Riggs (1957-94) was an American filmmaker, professor, poet, and gay rights activist, who wrote, produced, and directed provocative, formally innovative meditations on representation, race, gender, and sexual identity in American culture. Organized by BAM's senior repertory and specialty film programmer Ashley Clark in collaboration with documentary filmmaker and longtime Riggs collaborator Vivian Kleiman, the series marks the 25th anniversary of Riggs' death from AIDS-related complications, and the 30th anniversary of the premiere of his landmark work, Tongues Untied, a poetic reflection on the experiences of black, gay men in America.
