British Folk Trio The Young'uns Set for 1st U.S. Tour Starting at Philadelphia Folk Festival

Just as election season is heating up in America, British folk trio The Young'uns are set to bring their unique brand of social commentary to U.S. venues for the first time this summer. Named 'Best Group' at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards two years in a row (2015 and 2016), they will introduce their trademark harmonies, honesty and humour to American audiences, commencing with their debut appearance at the annual Philadelphia Folk Festival, August 16, 17 and 18.

Celebrating its 37th anniversary, Outfest - the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization promoting equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBTQ stories on the screen - today announced the complete programming lineup for the 2019 Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival, presented by HBO. The nation's leading LGBTQ festival will be held July 18-28, 2019.

Red Bull Theater today announced the cast for the next REVELATION READING, Amy Freed's Shrew!, directed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall, would include: Arnie Burton, Andrea Cirie, Carson Elrod, Mel Johnson Jr., John Pankow, Reg Rogers, Danny Scheie, Susannah Rogers, and more to be announced.  This will take place on Monday May 13th at 7:30pm at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets).

The AA Arts Incubator Program of Asian Improv Arts Midwest (AIRMW) is pleased to announce that its historic series, 'Our Perspective: Asian American Play Readings,' continues with its second reading in 2019. The next reading is the comedic full length play Lucy and Charlie's Honeymoon by Matthew C. Yee, Monday, May 13, at the Steppenwolf 1700 Theatre, 1700 N Halsted St, at 6:30 p.m. The running time is 90 minutes with no intermission. TITANIC LIVE Makes Los Angeles Debut This June

In an extraordinary concert-film event, only the second such screening ever in the United States, the blockbuster film Titanic will be shown on a vast LED outdoor screen with James Horner's epic score performed live by the New West Symphony's renowned orchestra on Saturday night, June 22, in Thousand Oaks.   The special showing will take place at the William Rolland Stadium on the campus of California Lutheran University.

Chicago Winners For August Wilson Monologue Competition Announced

The League of Chicago Theatres, Goodman Theatre, the University of Illinois at Chicago and competition organizer Derrick Sanders announce the top Chicago finalists for the 10th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition, which were held Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Goodman Theatre: Abad Viquez of Nicholas Senn High School (first place), Freedom Martin of The Chicago High School for the Performing Arts (second place), Serenity Saffold-Rice of Interlochen Center for the Arts (third place), and Lyk Singleton of The Chicago High School for the Performing Arts (honorable mention).

Chicago High School Students To Compete In The 10th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition

Twenty-two Chicago high school students will compete in the finals of the 10th Annual August Wilson Monologue Competition for a chance to represent Chicago in the National Competition at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City.  Hundreds of students competed across the city in preliminary rounds. The finals will be held at the Goodman Theatre, 170 N Dearborn on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The August Wilson Monologue Competition is free and open to the public. Please call 312-554-9800 for ticket information. The top two winners of the Chicago finals will compete in the National Finals at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway on Monday, May 6, 2019.

Martha's Trouble Announces First Concert Cruise

Alabama-based husband-and-wife folk/rock duo Martha's Trouble (aka Rob and Jen Slocumb) will be setting sail October 6 through October 13, 2019 on their first-ever concert cruise.  Fans of the pair's music are encouraged to purchase a cabin and join them for a very special, exclusive music experience on the high seas on board the Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas. Fans must purchase a cabin through the duo's site on Fan Club Cruises (https://fanclubcruises.com/event/mathas-trouble-concert-cruise) in order to partake in three Martha's Trouble concerts, a meet-and-greet, and a very special Q&A storytelling session during the course of the cruise.  The fan club offering is limited to 50 cabins, so the shows and special Martha's Trouble events on-board the ship will be intimate and personal for fans who join the fun. Disney's NEWSIES Opens At Artisan Center Theater on Friday, January 4, 2019 and runs through Saturday, February 9, 2019. The 196 seat theater-in-the-round is located at 444 East Pipeline Road in Hurst. Performances are at 7:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with 3:00pm matinees on Saturdays beginning January 12. The nonprofit Sundance Institute announced today the showcase of new independent feature films selected across all categories for the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The Festival hosts screenings in Park City, Salt Lake City and at Sundance Mountain Resort, from January 24 - February 3, 2019.
