Today Berkeley Repertory Theatre announced the addition of four new members to its Board of Trustees. These philanthropic citizens will join the rest of the board in guiding the Theatre for the next year. Steven Goldin, Laura Severino, and Kelli Tomlinson were voted in at the Annual Meeting on August 25, and Sudha Pennathur was voted in on September 25.

Toney Brown has fashioned an experimental play based on 'A Crack Up at the Race Riots' by Harmony Korine. The play meditates on the Artaudian notion of psychology and suicide, focusing on how the term 'mad' is thrust upon those who dare to speak unbearable truths to society. Theater for the New City's Dream Up Festival will present the piece August 27 to September 16, directed by Brown.

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

The play will receive a total of three distinct NNPN RWP productions in a 12-month period, rolling through Core Members New Jersey Repertory Company (Long Branch; June 24-July 30, 2017), Phoenix Theatre (Indianapolis, IN; October 25-November 19, 2017), and B Street Theatre (Sacramento, CA; 2018). Halftime with Don was a finalist for the 2015 National Showcase of New Plays and is NNPN's 65th Rolling World Premiere.

Headlining the Spencer Theater Summer Season 2017 is the classic country praise music of The Blackwood Quartet and the legendary Larry Gatlin of The Gatlin Brothers on Saturday, May 27 at 8 p.m. (Concert tickets are $39-$69). This promises to be a night of pure western-styled gospel beauty with the Blackwood's favorite Christian melodies like How Great Thou Art, Put Your Hand In The Hand, The Light House, Amazing Grace, Peace In The Valley, and many other gospel classics. Western great Larry Gatlin (pictured above), the eldest of the three Gatlin Brothers and writer of all their greatest hits including All The Gold In California and Houston, holds some of the most prestigious awards in the industry. His showcase of gospel and Gatlin favorites will open the second set of music that night, following The Blackwood Quartet (pictured left). The duo of headliners will then come together in our stage lights for an extended encore of songs. This special evening is being sponsored in-part by Lynn & Bruce Morgan and Sandra & David Barrett.
