FIVE PRESIDENTS Begins Tonight at Bay Street Theater

Bay Street Theater has announced that FIVE PRESIDENTS, the new play by Emmy Award-winning writer Rick Cleveland (Six Feet Under, The West Wing, and House of Cards), will extend its run for an additional week due to popular demand. The production will now run from tonight, June 23-July 19.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston will open its 47th consecutive summer season with the Broadway favorite, Guys and Dolls, from June 11-21, 2015 at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452). Set in Damon Runyon's jubilant, shimmering New York City, this Tony Award-winning musical about gangsters, showgirls, and mission workers stars Olivier Award nominee Brent Barrett as Sky Masterson (Broadway's Chicago, PBS's Kiss Me, Kate) and opera singer Mara Bonde as Sarah Brown (The Boston Pops). Broadway veteran David Hugo (LES MISERABLES) returns to direct Frank Loesser's romantic comedy that demonstrates the great lengths to which a guy will go when he truly falls in love with a 'doll.' Reagle Music Theatre is the long-running regional theater company known for casting Broadway stars alongside regional talent. Next spring, Tony Award winners Audra McDonald, George C. Wolfe, and Savion Glover will team up to collaborate on SHUFFLE ALONG, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed, a musical about the events that led to the creation of the groundbreaking Eubie Blake-Noble Sissle musical Shuffle Along. Starring Audra McDonald as the 1920's star Lottie Gee, directed by George C. Wolfe -- with a book written by Wolfe -- and choreographed by Savion Glover, the musical marks the first time that the writer/director and choreographer will have worked together since their 1996 hit Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk. Previews will begin Monday, March 14, 2016. Opening night is Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Principal Flute Lorna McGhee headlines “Divine Travel,“ part of the BNY Mellon Grand Classics series, on October 24 and 26 at Heinz Hall. Guest conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier returns to lead the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in excerpts from Grieg's “Peer Gynt,” written for Henrik Ibsen's 1867 play of the same name. It recounts the downfall and subsequent redemption of a Norwegian peasant anti-hero. McGhee will shine in Nielsen's Flute Concerto, which was last heard by Pittsburgh Symphony audiences in 1987. Sibelius' romantic Symphony No. 5, which was the composer's response to popular musical modernism of the time, closes the program.
