This week, the musical Dreamgirls is celebrating its 40th anniversary! To celebrate, the show's Tony-winning original star, Jennifer Holliday, stopped by Twitter to sing from the show's finale to help fans process the changes the pandemic has brought and to help them dream of a brighter future.

“The Nutcracker,” the beloved holiday tradition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), has sold out for 11 performances at the Stevens Center in downtown Winston-Salem. There are certain musical theatre pieces that audiences see on Broadway and believe the version they saw is the only way the material can be interpreted.  Beauty and the Beast definitely falls into that category for the sole reason of that once you’ve seen how Disney produced it originally, it’s impossible to see it done in a less spectacular way.

Historical themes have always been incorporated into stage shows, from classic Broadway musicals to contemporary productions. Contrary to what some may believe, not all historical-themed productions are old Broadway musicals. Several historical musicals have gone on to become classics, though this is not specifically a golden age musicals list.

Ahead of its 10th anniversary season, the Young Women's Choral Projects of San Francisco (YWCP) announced today that Founding Director Susan McMane will retire in July 2022. At the end of the forthcoming season, Dr. McMane will conduct her final concerts with the Young Women's Chorus in San Francisco on Wednesday, June 23, 2022, and in Paris on Saturday, July 3, 2022.

It is 21 years since Steamworks Productions made their debut performance with SAVAGE GRACE. TimeLine Theatre Company announced today that Managing Director Elizabeth K. Auman will be transitioning her responsibilities away from day-to-day management of the company in order to focus exclusively on the project management necessary to guide TimeLine’s new home development in Uptown.

In 2001 Sally Richardson founded Steamworks Arts. Their first wort was a hit, enjoying two runs in Perth before being invited to Sydney, as well as being recorded for ABC Radio Drama. Steamworks are returning to SAVAGE GRACE with the same cast and crew to celebrate and reflect upon how the company, the people, and the world have changed since.
