This season's events will include discussions with Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow during his farewell season (TODAY, October 23); composer-conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and violinist Leila Josefowicz (October 28), who will discuss Mr. Salonen's Violin Concerto, written for Ms. Josefowicz (which they will perform with the Philharmonic in its New York Concert Premiere, October 30-November 5); Music Director Alan Gilbert and Executive Director Matthew VanBesien on the state of the Philharmonic (March 3, 2014); The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman (May 20, 2014), who will talk about Beethoven's piano concertos (which he will perform during The Beethoven Piano Concertos: A Philharmonic Festival, June 11-28, 2014); and discussions relating to the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, the details of which will be announced at a later date. All Insights Series events begin at 7:30 p.m.

The San Francisco Early Music Society journeys to England the weekend of November 1-3, 2013, for a lively program of Italian concertos. The Bay Area's premier Baroque string ensemble, ARCHETTI (Carla Moore and John Dornenburg, co-directors), will recreate the excitement of London's cosmopolitan concert scene as it was in the early 18th century when Continental musicians flocked to Britain to satisfy a burgeoning demand for the finest of European musical culture.

Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) has announced husband and wife team, John Kazanjian and Mary Ewald as the 2013 recipients of the Gregory A. Falls Sustained Achievement Award. The committee of prior recipients has made this selection to honor their dedication to the Seattle theatre community, much of it through their efforts with The New City Theatre. This September, The Granada Theatre is striking the jazz and blues chords with two back-to-back performances within one week. The Granada Theatre is proud to welcome three well-known modern masters of the smooth jazz genre - Peter White, David Benoit, and David Pack. This triple bill will perform on Friday, September 13 at 8pm. The following Friday, September 20 at 8pm, Dr. John will take the stage and perform his New Orleans-style rhythm and blues.
