Queen Theatrical Productions, Tribeca Theatrical Productions, Phil McIntyre Entertainment and NETworks Presentations just announced casting is complete for the first North American tour of Queen and Ben Elton's We Will Rock You. The 'rock theatrical', built around 24 of Queen's biggest hits, will launch a national tour in Baltimore, MD, at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, in October 2013.

Coming up this week, 54 BELOW, the performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, presents some of the brightest stars from Broadway, cabaret, jazz and beyond. 54 Below also launched its series of late night events. Broadway In Chicago just announced full casting for the upcoming national tour of FLASHDANCE - THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation. Joining Jillian Mueller as Alex Owens and Matthew Hydzik as Nick Hurley are Katie Webber as Tess, Kelly Felthous as Gloria, DeQuina Moore as Kiki, Jo Ann Cunningham as Hannah, David R. Gordon as Jimmy, Matthew Henerson as Harry and Christian Whelan in the role of C.C. flashdance - the musical will perform at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 West Randolph) for a limited engagement from Aug. 6 - 18, 2013.

FLASHDANCE-THE MUSICAL, the stage adaptation of the 1983 hit film that defined a generation, will perform at the Majestic Theatre for eight performances tonight, June 18-23. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, March 1.

Even though Jillian Mueller is still in her teens, she is already a veteran to Broadway and touring around the country. She has played in such shows as 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas,' 'Bye, Bye Birdie,' American Idiot,' 'Memphis' and her latest show FLASHDANCE playing the lead role of Alex. She shared with Broadway World some of her great moments on stage as well as the hard work she had to make it to where she is today.

Hershey Theatre has announced a new partnership with Easter Seals Interpreting Services (ESIS). This important collaboration will provide accessibility to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community by giving them the opportunity to experience the finest touring Broadway shows in Hershey.

The hugely popular 1983 film Flashdance, starring Jennifer Beals, received a musical facelift and had its world premiere in July 2008 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. Following a UK Tour, FLASHDANCE – THE MUSICAL opened on London's West End in late 2010. However, the show closed earlier than expected on January 15, 2011. By December 2011, the musical was slated for a Broadway opening in Fall 2012. Ambitiously, the creative teams also announced a second company that would tour the show starting in 2013. The First National Tour of FLASHDANCE – THE MUSICAL kicked off in Pittsburgh on January 1, 2013, giving the show it's second World Premiere of sorts because the re-envisioned production of title features new songs, a new book, a new creative team, and a different physical production. The musical has been on a whirlwind tour and has dates booked through May 4, 2014. Yet, the Broadway opening has been postponed to an unspecified date later in the 2013-2014 Broadway season.

The North American Tour of SISTER ACT will come to the Music Hall at Fair Park, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals, June 4-16. Summer in the theatre world is awards season. The king of all theatre awards is the annual Tony Awards Show. This year's Tony Awards Ceremony will be televised live on CBS on June 9, 2013 at 7:00pm Central Standard Time. To help Houston prepare for Broadway's big night, I had a chat with one of our local Tony voters, John Breckenridge, Theatre Under the Stars' CEO.

NETworks Presentations LLC's Founder and CEO Kenneth Gentry has just announced the addition of Orin Wolf to its executive staff. Effective July 1, 2013, Orin will join the company as President, with co-founder Scott W. Jackson serving as Chief Operating Officer and co-founder Seth Wenig as Executive Vice President - Production. Gentry will continue as Chief Executive Officer.

Despite having a cast of incredible triple threats, overall, FLASHDANCE: THE MUSICAL---the new, Broadway-bound stage musical based on the popular 80's-era movie of the same name---seems like a well-meant endeavor that needs a serious overhaul in its disjointed execution. The national tour company continues its Costa Mesa stop at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts through May 19.
