Something Rotten! is a completely original new musical directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, known for his work on The Book of Mormon and Disney's Aladdin that is opening the Broadway in Detroit season on September 25th at the Fisher Theatre. The hilarious new musical comedy tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, stuck in the shadow of Renaissance rockstar, Will Shakespeare. When the next big thing in theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting at the same time, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world's very first musical! BroadwayWorld Detroit had a chance to speak with Michigan-born Julian Burzynski Jr., an ensemble member in the show, who is loving every moment of being part of the show before it opens here on September 25th in Detroit. 'It's definitely a show for everyone. People who love musical theatre or want to get more into musical theatre,' he said. 'It's truly incredible and hilarious.' Seeking musical therapy as a relationship was coming to end, SLUGish leader Steven Lugerner revisited a selection of “go-to” nostalgic recordings by many of his favorite artists. “I started to make a list of songs that tugged at my heart, soul and ears,” writes Lugerner. “The collection of songs your hear on this album are all songs that have been deeply embedded in my musical ethos, play after play.”

Houston-based Splice Records is thrilled to announce that they have just recently signed Austin-based, soul band Tomar & The FCs to their roster. Splice Founder and Owner Shaun Brennan first discovered Tomar & The FCs when he and a friend attended a show at historic Houston venue, the Continental Club in 2016. After Tomar & The FCs' electric, high-energy performance, Brennan immediately bought two of their albums and booked them to play Splice Records' annual River Revival Music Fest where they headlined the main stage during a Friday night slot. After continuously booking them at various venues in Houston and Austin, Brennan was compelled to work with the soul virtuosos and signed them in 2018.

For decades, The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association (OGCMA) has presented summer Saturday night family entertainment featuring old favorites in many popular genres, tribute bands, and occasional Christian rock. But this year, OGCMA is making a bold, unprecedented choice in presenting the first Christian rap artists ever to appear in The Great Auditorium. Two of the most popular, hit-making, award-winning rap artists, Lecrae and Andy Mineo, will strut their stuff there on Saturday, July 28, at 7:00 pm.
